The Story

The theme of this year's third Annual Holiday Fundraiser for the Marin Interfaith Street Chaplaincy's (MISC) weekly Wellness Gatherings is "Building Community One Meal at a Time". Since 2015 generous donors have funded over 3,100 meals that bring together people who are housed with those living on the street to share stories, prayers, and a delicious meal to eat. I began attending the Wellness Gatherings over two years ago thinking I was going to “help out.” What I didn’t realize is the degree to which this group of people would touch my heart and "help me" to see that wellness and a healthy community is nurtured through giving and receiving in diversity.

I also learned it takes many hands to build this sacred space where everyone contributes, including weekly participants, Chef Emarco and his crew, our new interim Chaplain Rev. Bentley Stewart, along with volunteers from a variety of congregations, organizations and faith traditions. Our goal is to increase the donor base to 130 supporters and to raise enough to cover next year's meals. We need you to make this goal a reality through your tax-deductible donation and help in sharing our grassroots effort via email, text, and social media (www.youcaring.com/communityfund). Thank you for your support and hope to see you at the gatherings!!

P.S. Your invited to our Holiday Fundraising Kick-Off Party at the gathering on Tuesday, December 12th. Go to http://evite.me/C8SfwFbbx3 to RSVP and learn about time and location of the Wellness Gatherings.
