The Story

To Margaret Jacobsen, to distribute evenly between theirself and all those who helped them to organize the women's march in Portland, OR.

We had an incredible turnout, likely Portland's largest March EVER. And thanks to their organizing tactics, there was minimal police presence, and crowds were more peaceful and supportive than any protest I've ever been a part of. Not to downplay other means of protest in the least, but it was impressive to see how strong our sense of community was today. I believe we have a few people to thank for that :) if you feel like helping to give back to those who gave their time, I think the world will be a little sweeter place for it.

It was beautiful and powerful everything I saw and heard today, and it wouldn't have been possible without all the hard work put in by all the volunteers, especially Margaret, who sorta took the reigns after the organizational efforts were... Less than satisfactory... But they also beautifully and graciously handed the reigns to so many wonderful voices in the community who have desperately needed to be heard for quite some time now.

I am so grateful for all who participated and I'd love to send a financial thank you to those who worked as hard as they did to make this event so successful!

We DID it!!!!!!!!

I am soooo sooooo proud of and thankful for each and every one of you. I've been sending out personalized, hand-typed, thank you emails and I have many more to send, please be patient with me as I'm also working a full time job haha.

So happy that the organizers are going to be paid for their work! Please continue doing stuff like this, if you see someone who you think deserves support and is helping to improve the situation for oppressed people of any sort, maybe consider throwing one of these together or even something as simple as making a meal for someone to let them know you appreciate them.

Let's kick 2017's ass with kindness (and also maybe some actual ass-kicking hah)

SO close to the goal!!! I'd love to see us pass it today, and I believe we can do so, easily. The more you share this, the more likely that will be

The organizers wanted me to mention how grateful they are for all of you, they are currently planning for how to move forward, so I encourage each of you who saw this, shared this, or contributed, to continue your own plans in moving forward in resistance not just against Trump, but against the injustices that have affected so many people for so long, while many of us were far too silent. One thing you could do, potentially, is consider regularly attending Let's Talk PDX meetings to hear from and support queer people of color and other folks you may not typically be surrounded by in such a predominantly white city. As a white woman in Portland, I know I have some humility to seek, and I hope you'll join me for that journey. Again, thank you sooooo much, all of you!

Logged on this morning to find that we're just shy of 500 left to reach the goal!!!!!!!!!!

Not enough words in the english language to thank you all.

No matter how poor or disenfranchised we may be individually, together we are powerful and can build a better world than what we inherited. My hope is that our work does not end with this protest, or with this fundraiser, that our sense of accomplishment at having done something good for someone else does not keep us content and satisfied with ourselves. My hope is that we push forward into the ongoing, challenging, sometimes near impossible work of fixing that which is broken, and humbling ourselves before those we have historically failed, so that we may lift everyone up to have an equal footing.

But in the mean time, I am just sooooo endlessly thankful for all you beautiful humans who have showed up to help so far.
