Wednesday January 4th, 2017 was the day tragedy struck our family. Just 4 months before our wedding my fiancé Marcel McCants was shot in the neck and left for dead. A careless act of a young man who Marcel mentored and thought of as a friend is responsible. This life changing tragedy has drastically altered the lives of us and our three children. From homelessness to being a graduate of the Art Institute of Seattle Marcel McCants has fought against numerous obstacles on the journey of becoming an impressive entrepreneur in the Seattle Area.
After 7 years of teaching at a local high school in the Highline School District, he stepped out on faith to pursue his passion of Videography & Photography full-time where he birthed his brand "New Focus". With a developing business and heart for his community he has become a staple in Seattle and “Cel with New Focus” was the go to guy.
An actively loving father of 3 to a 12 year old step-daughter and 2 sons that are 9 and 2 years old. Words cannot describe Marcel as a father in a simple paragraph. But to give you a glimpse of the man I love and his character on the one day that was designed for him (his 32nd birthday March 20th, 2016) the only gift he wanted was for him, myself and our children to be baptized at our church. But to my surprise that wasn’t all, he got down and on knee and asked me to be his wife.
A SHOT TO THE NECK, has sent our world into a whirlwind. Marcel has undergone several lengthy surgeries and has a long journey ahead of him. Nights spent with baths and bedtime stories and fighting monsters under the bed with our boys to NOW fighting for his life at Harborview Medical Center in the Intensive Care Unit. His days since the event have been nothing but ventilated breathing, being turned every two hours, extreme pain and tube feedings, just to name a few; all the while missing his children and family.
We need your help MARCEL MCCANTS CAN’T DO THIS ALONE… A SHOT TO THE NECK… has severed his spinal cord leaving him paralyzed per the medical team. But we serve a mighty GOD and have been praying for a miracle for Marcel. JOIN US on the journey #Fighting4Marcel | A New Lens on Life
