The Story

My sister Mairead was diagnosed with Stage 4 Triple Negative Breast Cancer in August 2016. She is 33 years old. Mairead, her fiancé Paul, and their little girl Ali are determined to come out on the other side with a clean bill of health. Mairead was offered palliative chemotherapy by her hospital which would mean that she would only live for a few years. She was floored by this and decided that it wasn't her fate. She knew she could heal her body and survive this diagnosis. She has spent the last 9 months treating her body like a temple, healing it using a strict diet, natural supplements, high doses of vitamins, cannabis oil, and other various methods. She had some small successes along the way, but things have taken a turn for the worse and her latest CT scan shows disease progression. The hospital offered her palliative chemotherapy again, but she is still looking to survive and heal completely--and we believe she can.

Mairead is going to Istanbul for lifesaving treatment on Sunday. The hospital she will be attending is using some new and clever treatments. She will be getting a low dose of chemotherapy delivered in a way which reaches the cancer cells and avoids completely destroying healthy cells. This treatment is complemented with hyperthermia, high doses of supporting vitamins, and various other natural methods which support the body to heal. She tried her best to heal naturally, but the cancer has spread to her spine. If it gets worse, it could cause some real, irreversible damage. She needs to act quickly and act now to get on top of this.

Please help if you can. Visit Mairead's blog to read about her journey so far: maireadmcwellness.wordpress.com

Please keep Mairead in your thoughts. If you can't afford to donate any money, just think of her and send her well wishes. If you would like to help with fundraising, email [email protected] We will be holding some fundraisers in her local town of Strokestown and in Dublin, too. Any and all help is most welcome. Let's show Mairead our support and reach this target. We know she can do it!

Hello everyone! I'm sorry I haven't been on here to update the page, there have been several updates on the blog (maireadmcwellness.wordpress.com) but I'll try to summarise all the goings on here in case you lovely supporters don't read my blog!

Where to start... Well Istanbul has been both kind and cruel to me. The first chemo session really knocked the bejaysus out of me, I was really sick for about three weeks. The journey home was pretty rough. I couldn't eat or even think about eating! My energy levels were at an all time low and my white blood cells dropped but I made it back to Istanbul in one piece without getting an infection. I had my second treatment last Wednesday and this time, it didn't hit me hard at all. It's been a so much better this time and I'm hoping it will continue this way!

My doctors are very impressed with my progress so far. They said that the progress I have made would usually be seen after 4 or 5 treatments. I am thrilled with this news, the treatment is really working and I am healing away and exceeding expectations!

I have lost my hair in the mean time, something that really hasn't bothered me. I got the last few strands shaved off and loved the Sinead O'Connor look! It's fallen out a bit more since then and I now resemble a balding ould man with a few fluffy bits left on top! Sure it will grow back, it's only hair! I have embraced turban wearing and am loving how glam it can make me look and feel! I might keep this look going once my hair starts to grow back. I always wondered whether I could carry a shaved head, now I know! (I love it!)

I would like to thank all of you for all of your support so far. I am amazed at how many people have donated to me, both big and small amounts! What really amazes me is the kindness of strangers, there are so many names I don't recognise on the list. Who are you crazy people donating your hard earned to a complete stranger? It is madness! But good madness! I am so appreciative! I have discovered a new level of gratitude thanks to you all!

So I'm almost done with my second treatment now and have three more to go. I am feeling great about it all, I've made a brilliant choice in the clinic I've chosen and am in great hands. I see great things for me and my family in the future and it is all thanks to you wonderful people who have made this journey possible.

Sincerest thanks, from the bottom of my heart xxx
