The Story

(See English text below)

Hennes värld kretsade till nyligen kring My Little Ponies, cykla och popcorn... mycket popcorn.

"There is a saying that it takes a whole village to raise a child. Now we need a whole village to save our Linnea"

Linnea is five and a half years and comes from Karlskrona in Sweden. Her world revolved up until recently around My Little Ponies, riding her bicycle and popcorn... lots of popcorn. Our beloved daughter who has one best friend: her beloved big brother Kristian.
That was her world - until a few months ago when she suddenly and shockingly became afflicted, and got emergency surgery for a brain tumor.
After the operation, we hoped that the bad news would end.
But now we live in the hospital and has been told that the tumor is an aggressive variety called DIPG (Diffuse Pons Glioma).
The short story is that there is a heart-breakingly minimal chance of survival using established treatments.

But we are her parents and refuse to give up. She'll get all the opportunities we can ever give her to become one of the survivors. For the opportunities exist, if one goes beyond the most common treatment methods, in other countries.
There is a possible treatment that we are now aiming for: one that means the tumor is treated through catheters implanted directly into the tumor. Studies and reports show that such a direct treatment gives Linnea the best chance of one day becoming healthy.

The cost of treatment and the journeys are very high. Higher than the average person can pay for: £ 65 000 (725 000 SEK) for the first operation and then £ 6500 (72 500 SEK) for treatments thereafter. In the current situation, it is unclear how many of these Linnea will need.

We refuse to let the cost be a barrier to our daughter's life, and we need all the help you can provide to achieve this. Whatever you can donate, we are extremely grateful.

We so desperately want her to start school, attend school discos, collect all the swim badges, learn to ride her bike without training wheels, fall in love, see the world, and experience all the beauty that the world has to offer.

If you're from Sweden and want to use Swish use Kristoffer Nordström's number: +46 723 58 09 53

Any funds left over will be donated to research for DIPG research and thus be of benefit to other children.

I know people are waiting for news so I won't keep you waiting any longer than necessary.

Linnea is now out of her second Intra-Arterial treatment and all has gone without any complications!
She is currently with mom in the recovery and will be transfered to a private room in a few hours if she's feeling fine.

But the biggest news of the day is that we were shown the MRI:s from today and compared to the MRI:s three weeks ago...

There is a clear and distinct reduction in the size of the tumor!!!!
It is so apparent that even untrained eyes like mine and my wifes can see the difference.
We will have a followup consultation next week to go over the images and the plan forward in more details, but this is fantastic news today.

Hi all,

here comes an update from Mexico.
We have now been here for a couple of weeks finding our way in a new country with fantastic people and a language we fully don't master yet.

Linnea has had her first intra arterial treatment here and it went great. We only needed to spend the night in a private room and got discharged the day after.
The doctors we have are amazing and very competent people and we feel very well taken care of here.

Linnea is doing well here, having fun and playing with big brother, there's a pool and a playground in the apartment complex where we live.
We spend the days with school work for big brother and the afternoons visiting museums, parks, or simply do grocery shopping.

Thank you to everyone who has helped us get here and we will keep you updated once we get results from the treatment.

Hi everyone.

Linnea has now come home from the hospital after nearly two months, she is now receiving regular treatment in our Swedish hospital.

We still need to wait a few weeks before we know more about the surgery in the UK, but we just want to give a huge thank you to everyone who has helped us.
