The Story

OPERATION SARGE was started to get 1 dog to 1 veteran and now we are working toward heeling other Veterans retain their pets,  helping with vet bills if needed,  food and supplies,  rescue, training and transport.

We need your help to continue this mission and to being a program that is much needed to the area,  original story is below:

Sarge is a dog that was dumped in a thunderstorm just wanting his forever home.  He is loving,  caring and full of life despite what he has been through,  just like the man who wants to give him his forever home Leonard Sims.  Leonard is a Veteran,Awesome. But you should reword Leonard is a veteran with a 60% VA disability rating and willing to give Sarge the life and home he deserves. He wants a best friend, a dog to exercise with,  train and bond with.
The problem here is that Sarge is in California,  in a county that has very high kill shelters and an estimated 40,000 dogs that live on the streets. We need to get him to Minnesota where he faces a life of love and care.
From Leonard:
I joined the Army July 2001 "Before the towers fell." I left for basic training in October the month after 09/11. This re-energized my patriot spirit and validated my decision to join. I went to Air Assault school 2003 and Airborne School 2005. I have served 4 tours of duty and in 3 near blasts.   While I do not suffer from many of the things that my brothers and sisters in arms endure I have been deemed 60% disabled by the military/VA due to my knees and back.  I had several pups that we kinda adopted while deployed. So I have grown fond of rescuing pups and now that I am home I would like to open my home to a pup that needs it,  I would like to provide him the companionship and dedication that he will give to me as well.  I would also love for this fundraiser to go above and beyond so that we can help a few others.  Thank you all! !

We are seeking funding for transport,  any excess funding will go to get other rescue dogs to their new Veteran homes. It has been proven that dogs provide a very calming and reassuring presence for Veterans,  many times affording them company that is non- judgemental,  and understanding.
Please help us to facilitate this and other rescue to veteran transports.

Not prepared for this emergency..an acquaintance friend of mine
Mark a disabled and out of work Navy Veteran
Dog "Lady" 5 yr old chow mix he had rescued.. when her former owner abandoned her out in the middle of nowhere.
Lady was surrounded by two coyotes and severely mauled earlier this week in Sage, Ca in the unincorporated area of Hemet .  He treated her with what he had on hand for an emergency but her wounds were severe.
She has since seen by the vet and treated and is now home but Mark had to take over 200.00 out of his mortgage money to cover the last bit of the over $1700.00 + bill.   If you can help even with a little bit please let me know.  OPERATION SARGE exists for this purpose as well and we would like to help if we can to make sure he's able to pay his bills, stay in his home and keep lady safe and comfortable.
Banning Vet Hospital released home care , she has to be closely monitored for any signs of infection and has received a strong antibiotic and pain killers to go home.
She will be coming back for a follow-up 14 days . PICS/VIDEO in Comments
Thank you everyone from the bottom of my heart this is been like overwhelming love support and well wishes and prayers.
This morning she is standing,  attempting to try to eat and obviously she's in pain they have not received the final invoice for the medical bill it's pending  from the doctor.. we are still actively fundraising bill expected to exceed quite a bit.
Thank you

We are currently on Mile 1000 of 2100. It has been a hard trip so far we have hit a lot of bad weather, rain snow, sleet, cold weather etc. We have met some really nice people and the boys were able to see snow for the first time, they had no idea what to do! It's a good thing I got coats before we left so that neither of them got cold. We are all sick of being in the Jeep, but we did not raise enough money to stay in hotels with two large dogs. We are excited to get to Minnesota and for both boys to meet their new Daddy's! Hopefully we will be in there tomorrow at the latest, driving has been tough with the weather otherwise we would be further along. Please donate if you can, every dollar helps! If you cannot donate please please please share the campaign! We need donations still of money for a return trip and for phase two of this as well as other items we do need if interested in donating items please contact me. Thank you all for helping us on this journey the boys are tired and sick of being in their crates but excited to be on the road and heading to their forever homes.

Hi all Sarge here, update time!!
I fell into the pool yesterday playing with my ball, my foster mom got me out right away but boy was it chilly!! I've gotten used to being warm since I came off of the streets. I get to leave to go meet my forever dad this week and I am so excited, I have to go to the vet first though and get my shots and get neutered, whatever that means grrrr. OH! and there is another doggy that's going to be traveling with us named Sir Gandalf the Grey, he just got adopted from death row at San Bernadino shelter and his new daddy is a veteran too. He gets to have a new sister named Bertha Mae and I am so excited for him. I hope we can stay friends after we make it to MN, we're really lucky boys. There are pics of my travel buddy here now too, he's what Jamie calls a pibble.
We are still a little ways away from our goal and now with 2 dogs it's going to be more expensive. My foster mommy said that she'll get us there no matter what though and I hear I might see snow.
We'll be taking lots of pictures along the way and Jamie will post an update after my surgery too.
Can you guys please, please share this campaign and donate if you can, even $1 helps. The campaign is already helping more than just me and we want to help a lot of others too. Thank you all from my nose to my tail.
We love you all!!
