You have all seen reports of the devastation caused by Hurricane Harvey in the Houston area. I want you to know that we have been in constant contact with the staff at The Wilderness at Lake Jackson and happy to report that every one of the 60 KemperSports staffers who works at The Wilderness has been evacuated and is safe. Unfortunately, many have been displaced from their homes face great uncertainty when the floods subside.
In addition, as you have seen in the news, Lake Jackson and other waterways continue to rise. And while our General Manager Doug Borrow and his team are already hard at work planning to restore The Wilderness to its award winning level, the facility is expected to be closed for an extended period of time, keeping the many of our local staffers out of work.
Many of you have reached out to ask how we can help our fellow staff members in their time of need. The team at Lake Jackson greatly appreciate all the calls, emails and offers of help from their KemperSports/KemperLesnik family. To facilitate this our collective support, we have established an online donation system to allow us to collect funds to share with the Lake Jackson staff to help them get back on their feet. KemperSports will also make a donation to the fund. All funds collected will go directly to the impacted staffers.
As the days pass, we may receive other requests for assistance, for example, for clothing, toys, toiletries, etc. We will be sure to share any additional requests with you.
If you have any questions about this effort, please contact Heather Margulis or Val D’Souza.
Thank you for your support and contribution and for continuing to keep those at The Wilderness at Lake Jackson and everyone affected by the storm in your thoughts and prayers.
