We're asking for your help...help to pay 2 year old Scout's emergency medical bills. This happy, sweet lovebug arrived at an inland empire shelter as a stray, and came down with kennel cough while he was there. He was put into their isolation ward, but they told us there were no guarantees if they needed space....we all know what that means.
Lab Rescuers jumped in and grabbed him. Unfortunately, while we were treating his kennel cough, it turned into pneumonia. He was rushed to a 24-hour emergency hospital and was immediately put on oxygen and iv antibiotics...and had no real improvement over the next 48 hours. Adding to the pneumonia, his intestine became severely dilated and the ultrasound revealed bloating and substantial amounts of fluid in the intestinal tract. This caused extreme concern from the vets', fearing his intestine would rupture at any moment and kill him. Surgery was not an option due to his pneumonia and overall very poor condition...so we had to wait and hope for the best. Thankfully, Scout didn't have an obstruction and was eventually able to pass the large volume of fluid. While he's not quite out of the woods, he's turning the corner. The cost of his care for being in ICU, numerous tests, antibiotics, breathing treatments, two days of being on oxygen, blood panels, chest and abdominal x-rays, ultrasounds, etc, will be about $7,000. But he's worth every penny of that! We have already raised $2,000 toward his care.
Your donation to Lab Rescuers will assist us in paying Scout's bills, and enable us to continue saving other Labs in need. Every donation is very much appreciated. We are extremely happy that Scout pulled through and we've been able to save his life. Without your support, we couldn't do the work we do. Thank you so very much for your generous donation.
