Update on Facebook from Kristin (Riley's mom) today:
Ok here is what we know so far today!
She does have one spot of cancer in her left arm. Her face and sinus area are completely CLEAR! We don’t know if radiation cleared it or if we have a full blown miracle - we are choosing to believe that it is miraculous in nature because it was big and bright and it’s gone.
She does qualify for the DFMO and etopiside trial - she will be starting today. She can go off of that trial at any point if she qualifies for something else or the need arises. They are going to stay in Michigan for another week or so to do some spot radiation to her arm.
This is the most exciting part - we have been told by several doctors that her bone marrow is permanently damaged and that’s not true - she is making plenty of platelets - it’s just that her body is attacking them before they can become mature - she has made an antibody that does this. Well this can be fixed - with steroids and IVIG and another new drug! So they are also going to work on getting this straightened out in the next week as well. This alone changes everything - and we are so glad that Dr. Scholler and her team was able to find this problem and hopefully fix it.
Her numbers are good - we aren’t out of the woods yet - but HOPE IS ALIVE and for that we are grateful.
As always traveling is super expensive - and so are all the drugs and the co-pays if you can spare a few bucks we would appreciate it. Thank you always, we are grateful!
To God be the Glory!
