Former UB rugby, NY Rugby and RVC rugby player Kris “KA” Andersen needs our help. For those who don’t know Kris’ story, he was severely injured three years ago in a diving accident. He lost use of his legs and still has only minimal use of his hands.
Shortly after the accident, a fundraiser was held to pay for home renovations and to help offset some of the mounting medical costs. TUBAS (both those who knew Kris and those who did not) played a huge part in the success of that effort.
Now, more help is needed. Kris lost job after the accident and the financial strain is great as he and his wife, a nurse, deal with his medical needs while raising their 10-year- old twins.
Kris recently started a physical therapy program in New Jersey that has provided him great benefits, both physically and mentally. Unfortunately, insurance does not cover the cost of the $110-per- hour
therapy, nor the transportation and hotel costs required for him to receive the treatments. Likewise, Kris pays out of pocket to have someone come to his home while his wife works and help him with
everyday needs. Beyond that, the home still needs modifications to fully accommodate Kris’ needs.
We are hoping the Rugby community can help cover some of these additional costs. Any donation is greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance for your help and look forward to seeing you on Oct. 19th,
