The Story

My heart is broken. My dog Lexie was in a lot of pain and after many vet treatments, and an MRI confirming a herniated disc, her surgeon recommended that surgery was her only option for a pain free life. She had the surgery on 9/1 at Center for Veterinary Care in Lewisville and Saturday, September 2, her condition worsened at 1145am and she died only less than 22 hours after surgery. I am so very confused how this happened. They didn't call me in the morning like I was told by her surgeon who called me at 6pm on Friday, September 1 after Lexie's surgery. The surgeon was upbeat and said that Lexie did well in surgery and is stable. She said I could visit Lexie Saturday afternoon and that Lexie would be home Tuesday at the latest.

I am in complete shock. The Surgeon and doctors at the Center for Veterinary Specialty and Emergency Center in Lewisville cannot explain to me what happened in her aftercare the night after her surgery that led to her pulmonary hemorrhagin.  Seeing her take her last breath was very devastating. She was an 11 year old long hair chihuahua. She was going to turn 12 this month. Her sudden death makes me feel numbed, confused, and left with a huge medical bill from the MRI and neck surgery. Lexie was an amazing dog. She always smiles for her photos. So if you  would like to donate $100 or more,  as a professional photographer, I will donate to you a portrait session and one digital file for you to print. Any donation small or large is greatly appreciated.

Today, I am numbed. I still don't have answers. The doctor that was there yesterday when Lexie passed away has not called me back even after multiple requests. I have so many questions as to how Lexie could go from doing good after her surgery Friday, September 1 at 6pm to being dehydrated, having a heart murmur which she did not have prior because the surgeon assured me prior to surgery, and then bleeding to death at 2pm the next day. If you can please share the fundraiser to your friends. A donation of any amount will be appreciated. I am left with a huge debt for her surgery and no Lexie. Very heart broken.

Lexie passed away today unexpectedly a day after her surgery. I never expected this. The surgeon said her vitals were good going into the surgery yesterday and she was in stable condition this morning around 8am although she was in a lot of pain. Then at noon, I get a call from another doctor on call that her blood pressure had dropped very low and her heart rate was very high. They did multiple tests and X-ray's and found a heart murmur. She was concerned but not overly worried. Then 1 1/2 hour later, I get another call from a different doctor that she was throwing up blood and was in critical condition and that she was going to die. I rushed to the hospital and the doctor came out and said her heart was not beating and that she died and wanted to see if I wanted her to have CPR. I had signed that I wanted CPR so they were giving her CPR and the doctor came back and said that they got her heart beat back but they fear that it won't last. So I came in to see her breathe her last breath. It was very devastating and I screamed in pain in losing her. It was so unexpected. I made the decision for surgery based on the recommendation from the doctor because she was in so much pain.  I have so many questions as to what had went wrong. I am in complete shock of her passing. My sweet Lexie was in great health except for the neck pain. I am so numbed right now. I love her so much as did so many people who have met her. May my beautiful Lexie RIP and run at the Rainbow bridge with her brother and sisters who had gone before her. She will always be in my heart and will always be loved. My special Lexie. Always smiling and you loved me so much. Lexie 9/27/2005-9/2/2017
