Hello friends! We're pleased to introduce to the world our newest family member, Geddy Lee! (Glee for short!)
On September 11th, we got an emergency message from our dear friend and savior to the animals, Donya. Donya told us there was a very sweet rooster stuck in a shelter up in Denver, and his time was up. We have been wanting to adopt chickens for a while now, and have even received a grant from a wonderful group called The Microsanctuary Movement which we will be using to build a coop to house up to 8 hens. As of right now, though, Geddy Lee was a complete surprise. But, not having the funds to house a rooster was not going to stop us from saving his life.
Current items purchased for Glee:
-Several months worth of organic feed that I would like to reimburse Donya for ($45)
-2x indoor chicky diapers so that Glee can roam the house more freely ($30)
-Toys and stimulation items ($20)
-Large dog crate ($25)
-Large tote for dust bathing ($5)
-Black out curtain/more sheets ($5)
-Hardware to build a new half door on his bedroom ($10)
-Free sand from Lief!!!
Other purchases that need to be made soon:
-More enrichment/stimulation items as he is currently our only bird!
Anything that you can donate will help make Glee's transition more comfortable, and anything extra will go towards helping our new chickens also get settled as soon as our coop is complete within the next week.
Thank you SO much for checking out my fundraiser and caring about the plight of roosters. Roosters are one of the most marginalized domesticated animals that we have. Geddy Lee is only alive today because someone mis-sexed him at birth, otherwise he would have been ground up alive the same day he was born. We hope that Geddy can help be an advocate for the wonderful beings that roosters truly are. They deserve so much more from us.
