The Story

Father Kevin Sweeney was admitted for minor, sudden surgery on Thursday June 1 2017. He developed  respiratory complications and is now fighting for his life on a ventilator in the ICU, where he has been since Friday.
This is a tremendous financial hardship to the Sweeney family. Kevin was working three jobs and his wife, two jobs to make ends meet.
Kevin has been giving to the Gloucester community since he accepted the role of pastor to St. James Anglican Church six years ago. He is a founding member of Gloucester's G.U.E.S.T. program, which provides overnight accommodations, hot meals, and more to the homeless in Gloucester.
Kevin and his family need your help now. Please pray for his healing, for the medical team who is attending to him, and for all those who love him as they stand by and wait for a miracle.  If you are able, financial assistance is much appreciated, in any amount. Thank you and may our Amazing God bless you for your generosity.

Hello to our friends that are following our story. Sorry it has been awhile since an update has been written. Fr Kevin is still doing physical therapy 3 times a week . The blood clot is still there making his foot numb and painful. He will be going to UVA next week to get a bone marrow biopsy done. His platelets are still low . They are testing to see if he may in fact have an early stage of leukemia. Please keep praying for a miracle that all this will be healed by the great physical our Lord Jesus Christ. We are celebrating our 20th anniversary today.Praise God!!!! plus many more to come. God bless each one of you for being on this journey and praying for our family. Our daughter Raven will be a senior this year as well. Blessings+  Alice Sweeney

Happy 4th my friends! Had to take Fr. Kevin to Sentara ER yesterday. He was coughing a lot. He has bronchitis.
So now we will do breathing treatments, inhaler and cough syrup with codeine. The blood clot in the left leg he thinks is getting better. His calf doesn't hurt as bad now. The left foot is still swollen some and numb but better than it was. Still doing physical therapy 2 times a week at the house. So some baby steps forward. Just need to kick this bronchitis out the window. Thanks for the prayers keep them coming. Prayer works. Blessings Alice

Hello my friends. Sorry I have been very busy. I got Fr. Kevin to church on Sunday. It was good for everyone to see him. It was also good for him to be back in the church. We had a visiting priest Fr. Frank Bartlett who did the service for us. It was different having Kevin sit beside me in church. He enjoyed the fellowship and the coffee hour afterwards. What a great spread of food the members of the church brought. Needless to say he was ready for his nap afterward. Tuesday he went to see the Urologist to get a scope on the bladder to see if anything there would have caused the problem. All is well there thank God. He no longer has a urinary tract infection . He is also walking without a walker. Physical therapy still coming 2 times a week. Please pray for the healing of the blood clot in his lower left leg.  Still painful and his foot is numb.  Appreciate all the prayers, concerns, cards and the support we have been getting through all of this. May god bless each of you and your family.   Alice Sweeney
