The Story

Kerri had a seizure on July 3rd, the day before she was set to run Mt. Marathon- her dream race. 9 days later she had an MRI performed and it revealed that a tumor was the cause of the seizure. She and her husband were sent to San Fransisco that night to meet with a neurosurgeon to go over the surgery and receive more information about the tumor. They learned that the tumor was in fact malignant. UCSF is a top-ranked neurosurgery center and she is in good hands. Kerri will be having surgery this Wednesday, July 20th, to remove as much of the tumor as possible. This will be followed by several weeks of chemo/radiation. She is in good spirits right now and has been spending a couple of days just having fun and being with her family.  Overnight her life has been turned upside down and the reality of what has happening most likely hasn't fully sunk in for her and Josh.  Kerri is facing the battle of her life and needs our support, however you can give it.

Monday Kerri is beginning the next step of her battle, she will be starting her chemo and radiation treatments. She and Josh will be staying in the Bay Area while she undergoes these treatments. She was able to come home to Fairbanks for a quick visit before heading back to California. Her diagnosis is a tough one and needs all of our prayers and support. She loves to hear from everyone and is keeping a positive attitude. Please keep her and Josh and their family in your prayers. Her radiation oncologist told her she can even run while getting her treatment! Here's to you Kerri!

Kerri had her surgery today to remove her tumor.  According to her family, the surgery went well and Kerri did great, as we knew she would!  The surgeon said he was able to get more of the tumor than he expected, which is more promising news.  Kerri now faces 6 weeks of combined chemo/radiation therapy, that she will be receiving in either San Francisco or Seattle.  She's continuing to fight.  The family really appreciates all the support and prayers from everyone...lets keep them coming!
