The Story

I am hiking the entire Appalachian Trail to fundraise for Kay's Kisses. Kay's Kisses provides books and gifts to children transitioning out of violent homes. The trail is approximately 2,190 miles and I am trying to raise $2/mile. I would love it if you would choose to donate per mile, adopt a state or give any amount you can. Please help share my mission and follow my journey at kayskisses.org

Kay Sisto was well known for her big heart and lipstick kisses. We lost Kay to domestic violence in May, 2010. Kay's Kisses was formed to honor Kay, her heart, and her kisses and to help those recovering from violence. When women and children leave violent situations, they are often forced to leave all of their belongings behind. Kay's Kisses donates new books and gift packages to children displaced from violent homes; the children keep these gifts and have something of their own to provide a small amount of comfort during their difficult transition. Trisha's big dream is to someday start a "kitty cafe bookstore" where children can "shop" and choose their own items for free and enjoy story times, crafts, and pet snuggles. Kay's Kisses will also be donating to groups that help with the education and prevention of domestic violence.

Trish Sisto is the founder of Kay's Kisses, with support from the Sisto Family. The issue of domestic violence touched Trisha's life as a child, and again as an adult when her Mother-In-Law Kay was taken suddenly from the Sisto Family. Kay was killed as she was preparing for her daily walk with her father. In honor of Kay's lost walk, Trish is planning to walk the entire 2,190 mile Appalachian Trail in April 2017 to fundraise for Kay's Kisses.

Wow! I cannot believe how close we are to my first goal. When I first started this, I really wasn't sure what to expect or how others would feel about my vision and cause. You all have blown me away with your help and support, and I am truly blessed to have so many people in my life that believe in me and this mission. We are going to change lives, and we are doing it together! I'm thinking a new goal is in order... I hit the trail this weekend- I look forward to sharing my adventure, please help me spread the word after the journey begins :) Thank you! Trish

Thank you so much for your support!! I will hit the trail in just over 30 days. As a reminder, all funds that are raised go toward the books and gifts for children- you are in no way supporting my hike. I have spent the last year working 4 jobs to save for my personal expenses and equipment to do the hike and take the time off. I am currently covering the costs for all business expenses (website, printing, etc.) so that your funds go TO THE KIDS! It's very important to me to be transparent with all funds so don't be shy if you have questions. It's also very important to me to make this a registered Non-Profit Organization, which is quite expensive. If you would like your contribution to go toward non-profit status please enter that in the comments. Thank you so much for sharing my dream!! Follow my journey on the trail at Kayskisses.org
