FOR OUR FRIENDS AND SUPPORTERS in NC...
Hello, and thanks for coming!
We are a group of dedicated educators, businesspeople, and parents who are determined to create the first "student-centered" high school in Morrisville; a 21st-century epicenter of learning for a diverse and growing community right beside the burgeoning Research Triangle Park, in the heart of North Carolina. We have received our charter approval from the State Board of Education with help from ourengaging community. Our school will embrace State-of- the-art student-centered teaching methods to form a more holistic learning experience and give youth ownership over their educational journeys.
Our expert educators and adjunct instructors, from the community, will engage, empower and follow students on a four-year passage as they engage in a curriculum that includes layered/blended curriculum, team-building, and project-based learning, which will not only prepare them for higher studies and careers ahead but also for the bigger picture of life.
Our story began 5 years ago whenLara Visser asked Janet Littlejohn if she wanted to help create a new and innovative "student-centered" high school. What a GREAT IDEA!Our children want community schools where they can have more personal and engaging educational experiences. We continue to see these changes coming in traditional education, and we are excited about educational success here in the USA (Have you heard of the XQ Super Schools) and abroad (ex. Finland) where youth are excited to have more hands-on and real project/problem-based learning opportunities.
Lara connected with various educational, corporate and entrepreneurial experts, including Margaret Broadwell, the first female Mayor of Morrisville, and current Mayor Mark Stohlman, to join our Executive and Advisory Boards to create the Kaleidoscope Art and Technology Charter High School.
Through the rigorous charter application process with the Department of Public Instruction's Charter School Advisory Board (CSAB) and the NC State Board of Education (SBE) our KCHS team has grown stronger and even more committed to offering a dynamic program where we “follow the student” in their interests and aspirations in order to engage and enable them to learn content while discovering their passions in life.
This is the mission of Kaleidoscope Charter High School. We believe our youth are our future, and a great, engaging education can ensure creative and critical thinking and advancing society. We hope you agree!
We will open August 2019.
As a 501c3 non-profit educational organization, your generous contributions are tax-deductible and will help us with working capital to help with project development, growth, educational programs, and special initiatives.
Now we are in PHASE 2 - We received our North Carolina charter application approval and now we need:
