The Story

This is Kaelyn's second journey along the path to her second double lung transplant.
Kaelyn is almost 25 years of age, and was born with Cystic Fibrosis. In September 2013, she had her first double lung transplant.  Over the last six months, her health has not been what her doctors were wanting for her , so they have concluded to do a second double lung transplant
This will be a long journey for Kaelyn and her family.  They will once again be living in North Carolina away from her brother, family and friends.  They will be needing a lot of prayers, love and support from all.
Any donations would greatly be appreciated, for all donations will go towards paying medical expenses for lung transplant, prescriptions and relocating to North Carolina.
From Kaelyn and all her family, we want to thank everyone in advance for your support at this time of need. Also, and most important, Save a life, be an organ donor.

It's been a while since we have updated. Kaelyn has been feeling well and doing good. She looks great. We had several appointments at Duke the last couple of days. All appointsments went well. We were on our way home when Duke called to say Kaelyn's bronch results showed A2 mild rejection. They want  us to return to be admitted to the hospital for a 5 day IV rejection treatment. We will head back to Duke tomorrow afternoon to get the process started. Please pray the treatment gets rid of the rejection for good. Thank you all for the love and support you have given our family! It means to world to us!

I've received many messages from people checking on Kaelyn. She had an infection or possible pneumonia that's being treated with antibiotics. They also feel she still has mild rejection as well even though we haven't been able to get a bronch/biopsy to confirm. She did a 5 day IV treatment for rejection. Unfortunately her lungs have taken a pretty big hit with having infection and possible rejection at the same time. The doctors are positive she will get through all of this. They have some more treatments they are wanting to try on her as long as she is willing. Of course she said yes. She hasn't went through all of this to give up now. They think her lungs maybe better than before, however it will take a few weeks or longer before we actually know. This means she doesn't get to move back home right now as we had planned. Keep praying for her and our family as we battle through this temporary set back.

We haven't posted an update in a while. Kaelyn will be 5 weeks out from transplant tomorrow. She started pulmonary rehab on Monday. She's doing good and pushing herself daily. She is supposed to complete 23 sessions of pulmonary rehab before she can graduate. We are going to weekly doctor appointments etc. We've had a very busy week so far. She's counting the days down until her boyfriend gets here. She's really missing him. Her birthday is coming up on Sept. 12th so we have lots to celebrate. We thank god daily for the blessings he has provided our family. Transplant is very stressful but a beautiful miracle all at the same time. Keep the prayers coming as we always need them.
