Many of you know John and Ashleigh Haldeman from the Worthington community. John has devoted countless hours giving back to the Worthington Lacrosse program as an alumni and coach and so has Ashleigh as the Thomas Worthington Head Cheerleading Coach.
The Haldeman family has been going through a very rough and scary time with their 10 year old son Jacob who attends Worthington Estates Elementary. Jacob was hospitalized last December when he collapsed at a local grocery store. Unfortunately Jacobs case is so rare they have no answers as to why he got so sick. Jacob continued to get sick and required 3 more hospitalizations and countless nights in the ICU at Nationwide Children's Hospital. In February Jacob began a pulmonary rehab program and his lung functions started looking better. Until October 18th when he woke up screaming in pain.
Jacob's situation has progressed aggressively and the Haldemans were just advised that Jacob needs a double lung transplant. He is basically functioning on one lung and the other is hardly functioning. You can imagine how scary this is for this little guy and his family.
In the meantime he is being added to the donor list. They will wait for an acceptable donor and the Haldemans are facing skyrocketing medical bills as well as other unforeseen expenses.
I can only imagine the long days and sleepless nights they have endured nursing Jacob through his breathing problems and lung issues.
Lets come together to help give this boy a second chance and help his family through this rough time as they have given so much to the Worthington community over the years.
