The Story

If 1 in 50 kids are autistic, what happens when they grow up. Actually, the same things that happen to the other 49, right? I'm one of the autistic kids who grew up. Now, I need your help.

I'm 6 years into a PhD in Education, all of which I've funded myself. My study, Higher Education Retention Strategies. Assessing best practices for the retention of adults with autism spectrum disorders, examines and attempts to quantify the many reasons why autistic college student retention rates are so low. Why are autistic college students dropping out at a higher rate than their neuro-typical peers?

I'm about to enter the data collection / processing phase. Your donations will not only help in the recruitment of study participants, but also in the licensing of the tools required for the data analysis section of my study.

So much has been done to improve the lives of autistic kids in a K-12 setting. Mine is one of the few efforts to study retention of autistic college students. I'm so close to finishing. I just need a little help to cross the finish line.

I thank you in advance for your support of this very worthy project.

Great news. Data collection is almost over. I'm very excited to be at this point. In May, I'll begin crunching the numbers and finalizing my dissertation. Funds are still needed to pay for data collection / survey / and analysis services. Every little bit helps.
