The Story

Chris and Jessica Chicago live in Kingwood, TX. Chris is the program director at. Houston based Christian radio station, and Jessica is a stay at home mom to Aiden (9), Callie (4), and Finn (2).
Being north of Houston and over an hour from the coast, the Chicagos never imagined that their second story apartment would be in any real danger from the flooding from Hurricane Harvey. On Saturday, the rain began to fall, on Monday they lost power to their building, and when they awoke on Tuesday, they found that the first floor of their apartment had flooded completely.
Their initial decision was to try to stay put and wait for the waters to recede, but when the Coast Guard advised them that if they chose to stay, they'd be on their own for several days without help, they chose to evacuate. They loaded up a few backpacks and were boated away by the Coast Guard. You may have seen them on the CBS evening news last night!
For now, they are safe and dry with a coworker's family, but they have a long road ahead of them. They have no idea when, or even if, they will be able to return to their apartment. At the time of evacuation their unit was still dry, but the condition of the building is undetermined.
Your donation will help to keep them fed and clothed until they can return for their things. It will also help them pay for lodging as they determine where they will live for the time being.
Thank you for your love, prayers, and support!

Hello everyone! Chris and I are so overwhelmed by all the support and love that has been given to our family through this process! We have moved all of our things out of our apartment and into storage. The complex let us go with no trouble with our lease. We are still staying with the same gracious friend and searching for a home to rent. The rental market in Houston is tough right now, but we are trusting God for the right place at the right time. I will get everyone a personalized thank you at some point, but for now please know that we have been so blessed by every single one of these gifts. This has been a very stressful, uncertain few weeks, and not having to worry about how we will pay for unexpected expenses has been such a relief and comfort to us. We love you all, thanks again for supporting us and loving us so well!

-Jessica

Hello friends,

Just a quick update for you! Jessica and Chris were very fortunate in that they did not lose their belongings to the flood- praise God! Their apartment did not flood, but they've decided that, given the mold and toxic chemicals that the building was exposed to, they do not feel safe raising their children there, and they are seeking a new place to live.

Your generous donations will allow them to break their lease (if needed) and move into a new home that was not affected by the flood waters. You are such a blessing!
