The Story

As many of you know, on the night of October 13th, Jessica and Antonio (aka.Tony) Cangiano were victims of a horrible tragedy. They lost their home and everything that was in it was destroyed due to a house fire caused by arson in an adjacent unit in their fourplex. Jessica, Tony, and their dog Annie were able to make it out safely without serious injuries, however they were forced to leave from smoke filling their unit and were unable to find their precious kitty Stella before they had to evacuate.
They got out with the clothes on their backs, their phones, a small purse and their vehicle. Everything else was destroyed. A lifetime of items collected between the two of them. All of their vintage items, books, sentimental gifts, childhood mementos, craft supplies, tech devices, cameras, and all the other countless items they both owned. All of the merchandise in Jessica's Etsy vintage shop was destroyed that night with the fire too.

As Jessica so openly talks about on her blog(ChronicallyVintage.com) she has long been fighting multiple battles with chronic illness. This extreme stress will no doubt have dire consequences and take a very heavy toll on her. Thankfully she has the love and support of her family and from all her amazing friends and the vintage community that has been so overwhelmingly supportive.

I am hoping that if in any way we can help to relieve some of the stress and trauma that they are experiencing that it may make this whole nightmare a little more bearable. I know that Jessica and Tony care so deeply for their friends and family and I believe if we come together and work to lift their spirits and make this process even a little bit less difficult than it will unfortunately be, that we will be able to help them recover and rebuild as quickly as possible.

I have had multiple people reach out asking how they can help Jessica and Tony. My intention by creating this you caring page is to help Jessica and Tony heal, and to get back on their feet. If you can help them in anyway whether it be a monetary gift, a vintage item donated, or a loving and healing prayer sent on their behalf, it will truly be appreciated beyond words.

Thank you in advance for finding this page, and for sending the encouragement that Jessica and Tony both need during this difficult time.

Sincerely, Katie Papou (Jessica’s younger sister)

The following message is sent with love on behalf of Antonio and Jessica :

Life gave us bitter lemons. To make lemonade you still need sugar.

You, our dear family, friends, colleagues, acquaintances , readers, and even cherished strangers, were that sugar this week.

We have not enough words to express how much love, support, and practical help we received and continue to receive from all of you.

Nothing can ever repay you for what you did for us at such a difficult time. We'll just have to focus on getting back on our feet now and pay it forward in the future.

We thank each and every one of you for the amazing display of support and the smashing success of the campaign. We want you to know that we will never forget you and what you did for us.

We've always tried to be kind to everyone, but your kindness has inspired us to emerge from this tragedy with even more compassion and empathy in our hearts.

We will be okay, eventually, thanks in no small part to your love and support.

Thank you all so much! I can not begin to believe the generosity that has filled into Jessica and Antonio's lives. these last 24 hours have been nothing short of a miracle and I am truly blown away by how quickly we reached our initial fundraising goal. I am still being contacted continuously by people asking what they can do to help, or how they can donate. I didn't want to ask too much of people as I know how very expensive life can be. But with the outpouring of support that they are still continuing to receive, It sounds like people are not ready to stop supporting them and donating yet. I have decided to change the goal to $15,000. If in less than $24 hours we can raise $5000, I cant wait to see what this generous community will be able to achieve in the next few days.  Thank you again to everyone who is sharing and posting this. And to all the generous people who have donated or reached out and sent your love to them through this extremely difficult time.
Thank you with all my heart,

Wow, I can't begin to express how grateful I am to everyone who has been so generous and supportive. It has only been one day and we have almost reached half our goal. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you.
Many people are asking about donations of items, and clothing. A friend of Jessica's has set up a facebook page with the details of clothing measurements for Jessica & Tony, and has generously taken on the task of coordinating contributions, and providing shipping details. This is the link to the facebook page:  https://www.facebook.com/helpingthecangianos.
If any one wants to donate items, but does not have facebook I can be contacted from this page and am more than happy to help in anyway.
Thank you again everyone, for all the love and generosity.
