The Story

Meet sweet Ariel just 3 years old. I am Ariels childcare provider and have been in her life since she was just 10 months old. Ariel is like most 3 year olds , full of energy , loves animals and playing with her friends and loves playing outside with an incredible imagination . All seemed completely normal until Tuesday evening  March 27th. After being picked up from daycare , Ariel usually loves to play and jump between 2 water box covers by my driveway ,but on this day she was complaining  her back hurt and didn’t want to play. Her mom took her home and I received a call asking If she had fallen while at daycare because her back pain was worse  . There were no signs of swelling or redness so the next morning they took Ariel to the Dr and it was then they sent them to Doernbechers children’s hospital concerned she may have a kidney infection or virus. Soon it became clear something more serious was going on and the Dr‘s drew blood and collected a urine sample. Once the results came back, the word “ cancer” came out and the nigtmare began.  The Dr’s then performed a bone marrow  biopsy which confirmed every parents nightmare, type B leukemia a type of blood cancer . In that moment their entire world came crashing down and all their energy and dedication must be towards Ariel and fighting for her to win this battle. We are asking all our friends and family to please donate what ever they can to help cover the month of April’s living expenses such as their mortgage payment, utilities, and money for food while at the hospital.  Ariels mom is at the hospital 24/7  to care for their daughter unable to work  and the last thing they need to worry about while trying to save their daughters life is how they are going to pay  the bills. Please will you help this family :)

Hi everybody, I wanted to provide you all with an update on sweet Ariel and how she is doing. Ariel recently had her platelets checked and because she seems to be doing well she will now be going up to Portland one day a week instead of two, however this still means she will have to be put to sleep to have spinal draws which are not fun. Ariel continues to receive chemo daily along with steroide which make her swollen  and cranky but she’s tolerating it very well and has a vicious   Appetite. Michelle is still having to travel back-and-forth to Portland and is still unable to work due to all the full-time care Ariel needs with all her different medications and treatments And keeping her away from everyone in case of contamination. We are not out of the woods yet, but Ariel seems to be responding beautifully according to the doctors. Ariel is a true miracle that it appears to have been caught early based on her symptoms . All of the donations to date have been able to go towards their living expenses which has taken a huge load off of them as even when Michelle returns to work, she will still have a lot of make up time financially and will still have missed work do you do havomg to take Ariel back-and-forth to Portland. We are so grateful for the continued generosity for this family. Thank you!

Hi everyone , WOW can you believe it , we reached our first goal thanks to all the incredible  kindness and generosity and willingness to give from our hearts to help a family in need.  Some of you have asked about where things go from here,  so  I wanted to provide you with an update.

Ariel has been able to come home but is receiving daily chemo in medications all throughout the day. Michelle has to drive her two days a week for treatment and blood work in the hospital which is very costly in gas. Michelle will have to take a leave of absence from her job for the next 30 days but we’re praying  that Ariel will continue  to improve and get stroger.  I spoke to Michelle about her work situation and her insurance and below is how she responded. At this point I still want to continue this fundraiser to make sure the month of May is covered for them as well as far as their living expenses. With all the driving they are having to do back-and-forth to Portland and no other source of income coming in from Michelle all of your donations make a huge difference in relieving  that stress off of them. Again thank you for all you have done for this family and just know that because of you all they are being taken care of.

My Name is Michelle. My daughter Ariel was diagnosed with leukemia on 3/28. When I called my work to get me FMLA started I was shocked to find that my short term disability would not apply since it wasn't me that was ill and the same for my medical assistance. With this diagnosis I'm gonna be out of work for a minimum of a month,if not more. Any assistance is extremely helpful. We do not currently know how much our hospital and Dr. bills will be.
