The Story

"Father to the fatherless, defender of widows -- this is God, whose dwelling is holy. God places the lonely in families; he sets the prisoners free and gives them joy." Psalms 68:5-6a

We have always known God's plan for our family includes adoption. We desire to have a large family, to be a light in our community, and reflect God's heart for His children. The Bible is clear in its charge to believers to love and care for the widow and the fatherless, and we believe that God has called us to do this through adoption. We have experienced devastating loss through seven miscarriages. Through the pain we have clung to God's promise in Jeremiah 29:11 of "...a future and a hope." We have been incredibly blessed by the gift of our two sons, and believe our future will include frilly dresses and pink bows.

One of the amazing things about God’s love is that it seems to grow our ability to love when we are stretched. We desire to stretch our love to include more and more children in our home. We are currently active with Faithful Adoption Consultants, and awaiting being matched with a birth mom. We ask for your prayers above all - for the precious birth mother, the baby, that the gospel would be evident, and our hearts and home would be prepared to receive this gift. If you would like to partner with us with a financial gift, we would be doubly blessed. The funds raised here will go towards the costs associated with our adoption. We have always envisioned our family as being large, diverse, and happy. Please consider helping us achieve this dream.

Update #9

In Utah...

We are so excited to officially announce that baby girl is on the scene! She is one week old today and we are amazed that one little girl can be so loved, so life changing, and such a blessing. We have learned so much in this process and it is so awesome to have her here with us in the flesh. We are over the moon about her!

She was due on the 26th but we ended up hustling out of town about 5 days early to arrive in time for her birth on the 21st! All of the switches to travel plans went smoothly. We were able to meet with our birth momma right before she went back to surgery, and she actually had requested that Tiff be back with her for the birth. We had not been expecting that and it was really cool that Tiff could be present for our daughter's birth, and also be with our sweet birth mom to comfort and love on her.

We want to thank you all so much for your prayers, gifts, thoughts, and financial support. This little girl is so loved by so many and God has answered every prayer that we have brought to him. Not always in the way that we asked, but in his sovereignty he has worked in powerful, evident ways throughout this entire journey.

As for some of the details, sweet girl was born last Friday and weighed in at 6lbs. and 18" long. She overcame some initial difficulty breathing and is now growing, happy, and healthy. She was relinquished to us this past Monday and the time we have spent here together as a family has been amazing. We have also been able to love on our birth momma more and we are so thankful that she chose life. We have been awaiting a court date and are now going into another weekend hoping that this will all be wrapped up early next week so we can head home. It has not been the smoothest process as far as the legal side goes, and there have been additional costs to go along with finalization, but we continue to trust that God will provide the rest of the finances needed to bring our baby girl home.

Again, thank you for responding to our story by loving us big and well. God has used so many in baby girl's life so far and we are so blessed by you all. In these final steps please continue to pray that:

We will get a court date early next week and be able to arrange travel home.
Baby will continue to grow strong.
We will show the love of Jesus to our precious, selfless birth momma and that she will know peace and real love.

Love you all,
Jeremy and Tiffany.

P.s. Baby girl can't wait to meet and be snuggled by you all...

Update #8

Today we are posting the first picture we have received of our baby girl. We are beyond excited to get to see her for the first time! Isn't she beautiful?

Psalm 139:13 says, "For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother's womb." In this image I can see the hands of God all over our precious daughter.

The focus of today's update is to recognize all of you that have partnered with you so far. From donating here to hosting fundraisers, from sending gifts or cards to praying with us, it has been amazing to see how much God has moved in the hearts of people to come alongside of us with their thoughts, prayers, and finances. We are so thankful that GOD IS GOOD, and that he is at work in our world and more specifically in our family.

You all have blessed us beyond anything we could have asked for and we want to send out a very sincere and heartfelt THANK YOU!

We love you and can't wait to introduce you to the newest member of the Hinshaw family. Only two more weeks...or less!

Love from,
Jeremy and Tiffany.

Update #7

We are so excited to be under the one month mark! Time is just flying by as we near the arrival of our sweet baby girl. It is springtime in Alaska, which means sun one day and snow the next. In this season of change and flux I am reminded that one thing never changes, and that is the character of God.

Now, and always, we cling to the promises of God. Our church held a “burritos for baby Hinshaw” lunch this past Sunday and I was asked to briefly share about our adoption. I was prompted to share 3 verses that we have been given in the process.

First, a verse of promise:
Jeremiah 29:11 “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the LORD, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.” We are continually held in God’s love, as his adopted children. Our future and our hope lies in his hand. Because he is powerful, gracious, and sovereign, we need not worry or fear.

Second, a verse of provision:
I Thessalonians 5:24 ““For the God who calls you is faithful, and He can be trusted to make it so.” The God who has called us to adopt can be trusted to make it so. He can and will provide all of our needs. We are still in need of funds to bring our baby home, but we fully trust that God will “make it so”. He will work in the hearts of his children and in our circumstance to bring honor and glory to his name by providing what we need. Praise God!

Third, a verse of praise:
Psalm 40:5 ”Many, LORD my God, are the wonders you have done, the things you planned for us. None can compare with you; were I to speak and tell of your deeds, they would be too many to declare.” God has already done so much through our story and through his people. Tiff and I have had so many opportunities to share God’s goodness and love with people through the vehicle of adoption. Time after time adoption has come up in conversations with people, whether friends, family, or strangers, and we have been able to boldly share what God is doing and what he means to us and how much he loves us. God is good, and worthy to be praised.

As we approach the final stretch we want to once again thank all of you who have joined in our journey, whether thru prayers, thoughts, or gifts. Our incentive fundraising is still going so if you want a little something to remember us by, check Update #6 for details. Please consider joining us in one of three ways:

Prayer - for baby’s health, birth mother’s salvation and protection, remaining funds, travel plans, our family, and overall that God would be glorified.

Giving - if you have been wanting to contribute, now is a great time.

Sharing - pass along our story to family and friends. It is amazing how God is working and there is no limit to what he can do.

Lastly, a very special thanks to the ladies of Eagle River Grace who hosted our fundraiser lunch last week and all those who chowed down in support of adoption. It was a great success.

Thank you again. We love you all.
Jeremy and Tiffany.
