My mom was diagnosed this month with Stage 4 cholangiocarcinoma (bile duct cancer), and given a one year survival rate. This comes after marrying the man of her dreams only a short 1 ½ years ago. This past year they lost their insurance through his job of 34 years and she lost her job. The health plan finder denied them insurance. In the health plan finders' words “cancer is not a life changing event, you do not qualify.” Was told the same for disability by the state. They are receiving help through the hospital of 65% coverage but even after that they are in debt a staggering $54,000 in just 4 weeks. Chemo starts on February 22nd. They are only in the beginning stages of fighting this cancer. She is doing alternative care as well but it is extremely expensive and without help they may not be able to continue this treatment that is life saving. My stepdad is the sole provider and is, has and will lose more days of work to care for my mom. We are hoping to get them some help for regular living expenses and some help with medical. We are pleading for your help. Anything helps and anything matters!! We appreciate you reading our story.
