The Story

On the afternoon of Friday, October 14th, our friend and dear co-worker, Jennifer Olsberg was struck by a speeding car in a crosswalk on Orlando while she was walking home from Harmony Studios. According to witnesses, she was struck, rolled over the hood of the car and was thrown into the air and landed 14 feet from the impact site. We are beyond grateful that she is still with us and did not sustain any internal bleeding, head wounds, or spinal injuries. However, her right knee was shattered as was her left ankle and tibia, leaving her in a wheelchair. While she's expected to recover, it will be a long haul and she-- a Pilates instructor-- will be out of work for-- at this writing--at least 2 months or longer while she begins the road to recovery. Faced with the loss of income and astronomical medical bills, we want to do everything we can to help her get back on her feet. No contribution is too small. If you prefer to make a donation by check or cash or even donations in the form of giftcards for Wholefoods or other local grocery stores (TJ's or Gelson's) Below find her email as well as mailing address. Many thanks and please, please share this YouCaring page far and wide so that as many of her friends and acquaintances have the opportunity to help out! Check this page for updates!
With great Gratitude~

Hello. It's been over 8 weeks scince my surgery in October.  I was in a wheel chair for most of this. Just a couple days ago I was told I could walk without any walking devices. My bones have healed.  Yet. Walking hasn't come easy it's slow and awkward and pain ful.  Everything swells up And then I need to ice or rest.  I've never broken a bone in my life - much less both legs -so this is all new to me. Just wanted to say I'm mostly up right and vertical.   I plan on going back to work January 1st. I don't know what that will be like.. but I know the worst is over.  Looking Forward to rehab and getting back in sync with life; Perhaps running and dancing one day.   Thank you so much all who helped and supported me though this.  I don't think a wheel chair has seen more tears. Happy Wednesday.  Make it a good one. Life is short. Xo

Thank you all for helping reach my goal. It's very helpful since the man who hit me doesn't have great insurance -  to say the least.  On a good note got x- rays the other day and can start bearing weight on my feet/ walking with a walker; Literally babysteps 👣.. I feel like Bambi learning to walk again. 😊But my fractures have healed and that's a good thing. Hope to be back to work by the 1st. Xo

Hi
Best day of my life! Yesterday I went to the doctor and they took x Rays and were amazed at how quickly I was healing. My bones have pretty much mended and I have little to no swelling compared to most patients. It's crazy. I've only been rehabbing my self. Thank God I know how. 🙏🏻
They said I could start to weight bear on both legs. Which I have to say standing after being incapacitated for 8 weeks feels like heaven. I just started to cry. (I never thought I would be able too.) Overwhelmed with joy and gratitude for everyone who showed up for me. My friends went above and beyond anything I could anticipate. I feel insanely blessed.
Im still learning to walk and taking baby steps. Slow and steady with a walker. It's funny because I feel like Bambi learning to walk on new legs for the first time but have faith by the Xmas with lots of diligent work I should be mostly upright and working again by January 1st. I can't thank everyone who contributed. I know I still have a long raid ahead but I don't know where I'd be without you.
Forever grateful xo
