The Story

I've worked in restaurants for the last 25 years, both front and back of house.  I love my work, and recently started management training.

On Monday, October 24th, I fell while getting ready for work and (as the doctor said, yes really) broke the sh*t out of my arm.  I go in to see an orthopedic surgeon tomorrow, but it is very likely that I will be out of work for at least the next six to eight weeks.

Our family of six has been through a lot over the last few years, what feels like one hit after another, which has left us completely unable to replenish the small savings we originally had.  This isn't even the first time this year we've been dealt a blow, but this one is feeling particularly crushing (no pun intended).

I am hoping to be eligible for at least short term disability insurance, but that doesn't help us right now, which is when we actually do need help.  We live in a rural area and I have to get to these doctors appointments and put gas in the car and continue to feed the family and keep rent, utilities, and groceries covered.

Any small bit you can spare helps.  If you're reading this, we love you and thank you so much.

Fundraiser Updates

Dear friends,
This will be the last update before we close the fundraiser. I want to take this opportunity to thank each and every one of you for your kindness and compassion in our great time of need. Were it not for your generosity, we would have lost everything and probably be homeless right now. From the bottom of our hearts, we thank you and we love you all. You represent the very best that humanity has to offer.
I am cleared to go back to work and will be returning on the 14th.
This brings me to our very last request for your help. Thanks to your donations, we have kept our power our heat and put food on the table for our kids and paid November's rent. If you have any giving left in you, we are going to be way behind on December's rent which will be due the day after I start back to work. We are asking for one final push of about $500 to cover the difference between what we have left in the bank and what we will owe for rent. Anything at all will help us. Anything. I consider us to be so fortunate and blessed to have gotten through this with this final hurdle being the only obstacle left. We'll be paying off the medical bills for probably about a decade, but that's not a big deal. The important thing is that we are still here standing right now. Thank you all for your support and love. We will never forget this.
Please give only what you can without putting yourself out for Christmas if you are able and inclined. We love you all.

On this Thanksgiving day, I would like to tell each and every one of you that we are more grateful than our words could ever express or convey for your love, generosity and kindness. Today we have a meal to sit over and contemplate what could have been vs what is. We have you all to thank for this. We love you so much. Thank you all from the totality of our hearts. ❤️❤️❤️

Well, I held off on posting this update because of the election madness. I went for my follow up exam on the 8th. While the surgery wound is healing rather nicely, the bone itself has not begun to fuse as well as it should have by now. My work return date has been set back to after Christmas now. We have already told the kids that we will have to do Christmas after tax season and the wonderful little angels that they are completely understand and showed little to no disappointment over the news. The very real problem that we are facing right now is that we will have another round of bills to pay before any income is made.
In light of the overwhelming generosity that you guys have shown, I feel like an absolute pile of doo doo asking for more help. Please, please, please continue to share and refresh the fundraiser on your social media. If you have any giving left in you, there are 31 donors who have shown us unprecedented kindness and generosity and if each of you could manage to donate 20 or 30 dollars, it would make *all* the difference in the world to us. I know that this is asking a whole lot of you guys. I know that the mere notion of asking for more when so much has already been given can sound so ungrateful and presumptuous and for that you have my deepest apologies. Rest assured that if didn't receive another nickel from this fundraiser, we would still be blessed and grateful for what we have in this world; friends that care, family that loves us and each other to lean on during times like these. We love you all and the tears still well up in our eyes when we think about how much you all have done for us.
Thank you all again for your kindness, generosity and love. ❤️❤️❤️
