The Story

December started out difficult for the Carrafiello’s. It started with Jessica breaking her ankle rough housing with her son. Then not only 12 hours later Jay tore his achilles while coaching the St. Joe’s Freshman basketball team. Both injuries required surgery, leaving them out of work for at least the next couple of months. This is difficult at any time of the year; especially at Christmas. Many of you know how strong and independent they are as a family and would never ask for help, but would be the first there for anyone in time of need.

Never expecting on December 26, 2016, the day after Christmas, Jess would have to call 911 to request the medical assistance of Jay’s coworkers to help with a medical emergency. Though valiant efforts from the Stratford Fire Department, Stratford EMS, and Bridgeport Hospital, unfortunately Jason Carrafiello unexpectedly passed away at the age of only 38. This unbelievable loss has forever changed the loves of his life, wife Jessica, daughter Caitlyn (18) a Freshman at Southern Connecticut and son Brian a (14) a Freshman at Bunnell, as well as his father Brian and sister Nichole. Affectionately called “Carf” by friends and even his family, he has touched the lives of many. Jay has dedicated 12 years as a Firefighter EMT for the Stratford Fire Department, and has coached several sports and numerous kids for about 14 years.

It is never easy losing a loved one. We have been asked numerous times “What do they need?”, or “What can we do to help them?”. With Jess still be out of work for some time due to her injury and the loss of Jay’s full time salary and benefits this link has been set up to help our friends through some of the hardest days ahead. While no amount of money will ease the family’s grief, we want to show them our love and support. If you have not contributed yet, please consider making a donation to support the Carrafiello family. Any contribution you can make will help provide them with some financial stability no donation is too small and is GREATLY appreciated. We THANK YOU for all your support, kind words, encouragement, and meals. Everything has been so comforting to them during this difficult time.

One month ago we endured the loss of our friend Jay "Carf".  Thank you for your continued support and love for Jess, Caitlyn and Brian... The firsts of everything are tough, as you know Brian and Caitlyn celebrated birthdays and are getting back into their school routines, they are amazing and are doing a great job keeping Jess on her toes!  Yes on her toes..as for Jess, her ankle is healing nicely and she is almost wearing matching shoes! Unfortunately this is going at a much slower pace than she thought.  The good news is she is on the right path.  THANK YOU AGAIN....xo
