As many of you have heard, our sweet Javi Reyes had multiple strokes this past Friday night (Nov. 10) while on tour in New York City with his band, Post Animal. He had his first stroke on stage while playing, and finished the set because he didn't know what was happening. After it was clear that Javi was not okay, he was thankfully taken to the emergency room by his amazing friends and family that were at the show. The second stroke happened later that night in the hospital.
Javi had to stay in the Intensive Care Unit at Bellevue Hospital in NYC for 4 days. He underwent numerous tests to figure out the cause of the strokes and received intravenous anticoagulants to lower the risk of additional strokes from happening.
Javi had a miraculously fast recovery and was able to return home to Minneapolis on November 15. He is almost fully functional, aside from mild hearing loss in one ear and weakened motor skills in his left hand. He will not be able to tour with his band for the time being, but is feeling optimistic about being able to play guitar again!
Javi could use some help covering expenses related to his hospitalization in NYC, his continued medical care as his body heals, and support for him financially until he is able to play with Post Animal again. Any amount is a huge help and is greatly appreciated!
