The Story

On January 26, 2017 Megan was admitted to the hospital after experiencing numbness.

Very early Friday morning, Megan suffered an intense cardiac event that necessitated emergency delivery of her twins.

During delivery, Megan received mechanical ventilation and CPR. While her delivery was performed in record time, the prolonged CPR caused lack of oxygen to the brain.

Jason named their beautiful babies Vaila Rose and Leif Lachlan. Vaila was born kicking and fighting at 1lb and 11oz. Leif, weighing in at 1lb and 13oz received immediate CPR. Both babies were transported to a Children’s Hospital.

Late morning on Friday, Megan stopped breathing a second time but was revived.

Megan remains in critical condition in the CCU. Leif continues to improve and is a fighter. Tragically, Vaila passed peacefully Monday night.

The family requests your thoughts, good karma, and prayers to whomever you believe at this time.

Hey everyone! Thank you for your love, hope and care! This is Valentines day and Megan has a lot of hearts and kind people to help her and her family out during this rough time. This past week and a half have been really hard for our family. Last week Megan was sick and could not keep anything down. We thought she had a stomach bug. I've been on and off sick with bugs this entire winter. As she did not get better after a few days, her parents took her to the ER early in the morning. She had a bit of a distended stomach which could mean there was a blockage. This was similar to the previous condition that put Megan back into the hospital in mid 2017. She had to have a surgery to find out what her chances of survival were. That thought really scared us and Megan as we remembered the hard times after that surgery. So we have been in the hospital since then. The doctors wanted to observe Megan and see if the obstruction could resolve itself. If it lasted longer than five days they would have to operate. This was scary. Megan was scared, depressed and saw no hope to her situation. She was hungry, in pain and refused to take her medicine. Fortunately, she had a bowel movement early in the morning the day of her scheduled operation. She woke me up to say she "pooped." We were very happy that she was able to go. We are still checking to see how her intestines are fairing and will start a diet soon. Megan is starving and wants to eat so bad. Eventually, we will all be home again. This is an extreme emotional roller-coaster ride and Megan is not loving it. Keep sending us hope, love and your messages. Megan enjoys hearing from you all. Friends are truly miracle makers!

Happy Valentines Day!
