The Story

On December 6, 2017, PGA TOUR player, Jarrod Lyle, underwent his third bone marrow transplant for acute myeloid leukemia. Jarrod initially contracted the disease as a 17 year-old, relapsed in March 2012, necessitating a second transplant before suffering a third recurrence in July 2017.   Jarrod has spoken openly about his health and the challenges ahead. His chances of a full recovery diminish significantly with each relapse.

His wife, Briony, and two young daughters Lusi and Jemma, have sustained him in his battle.    Jarrod will not be returning to the PGA TOUR or Web.com Tour. Currently, his time and energy is focused on recovery from this latest operation. He is receiving the best of care.  Jarrod will be required to remain in Melbourne for three months following his operation. Melbourne is a 90-minute drive from his home in Torquay.

The PGA TOUR has declared a “January for Jarrod” month whereby players, the golf community and others will be able to assist Jarrod and his family meet the significant costs he now faces including day-to-day living, family and medical expenses.   If you wish to make a donation to Jarrod, you can do so directly on this site.

These are difficult times for Jarrod and his family. Your financial support would be greatly appreciated. However, please be advised that any donation to Jarrod would be considered a gift and, as such, would not be tax deductible. We wish Jarrod and his family well.

January 17, 2018 -  The latest results of Jarrod’s bone graft are positive.   However,  Jarrod’s immune system is very jeopardized as he continues to fight off illness, that has required him to return to the hospital for treatment on numerous occasions.  He is now living in an apartment close to the hospital in Melbourne and will stay there until he can return to his home and be monitored by a hospital closer to his home.  Lusi will begin school in February and Jarrod is working towards attending her first day of school, if possible.  Still a long battle ahead, but Jarrod is fighting on.  He and Briony are overwhelmed by the support from everyone and incredibly thankful.
