On Monday morning, September 26th, the Craig family of West Bend, Wisconsin experienced a devastating house fire. During the fire, their 18-year old Downs Syndrome daughter was trapped in the basement. Her older brother made valiant attempts to save her, including breaking a window. The fire department rescued her before it was too late. She is currently in the hospital in stable condition, recovering from serious smoke inhalation.
Their home is a total loss, and they do not have homeowners insurance. The goal is for the community to help them raise $300,000 to rebuild their home and cover their expenses.
The Craig family is very involved in helping the community through reaching out to the jail and prison systems with a faith-based program, as well as through a faith-based addictions ministry in their church, Falls Baptist.
