On Friday night, October 6th, 16 year-old Isaac was in a one-car accident where he severed his spinal cord and was life-flighted to Scripps Memorial Hospital. He was on his way home from the Mount Carmel High School football game where he had been cheering the team on as part of the cheer squad.
Isaac and his family are so grateful to be surrounded by a loving church family and community and will face enormous challenges; let’s help them with the financial part.
Their costs will be both immediate and long-term. Isaac will need financial support for many, many years.
Their family home will need to be retrofitted for wheelchair accessibility. They will need a wheelchair, special bed and a long list of expensive medical equipment. Medical bills will be astronomical at the same time that family income will decrease as Isaac’s parents and family members take time away from work to care for him.
On the night Isaac was life-flighted to Scripps Memorial La Jolla, it was determined that he had crushed T3 and T4 vertebrae and fractured his sternum, severing his spinal cord and resulting in paralysis from the chest down. He has no function in his legs and torso. He had surgery Sunday morning to relieve the pressure on the surrounding nerves and to fuse his thoracic vertebrae to prevent further damage and make it possible for him to sit in a wheelchair.
Isaac and his family are much-loved members of their community and their church, where Isaac and his entire family have volunteered for many years. Let’s give back to him and his family and relieve some of the financial burden by donating as much as we can.
Thank you all for your love, support and continued prayers for this wonderful family.
