The Story

Friday night, July, 21 Topper lead vocalist, Pete George was walking home from a nearby friend's house. When he was walking across the highway, he was struck by a car, airlifted to Erlanger Hospital in Chattanooga, TN and lost his right leg. Absolutely no other injuries and it's a miracle he's alive! Pete has displayed an amazing attitude and inspirational spirit. He's had surgeries to prepare for the healing time necessary for the fitting of a prosthetic leg. He set a goal to be back onstage by the middle of August on his second day in the hospital! These have been trying times for Pete, his family and the band, but again, he has amazed everyone, including the doctors & nurses at Erlanger Hospital, which is one of the premier
trauma centers in the world.
We have kept this tragedy private until we knew the ultimate outcome of his injury, notified all family members, close friends, Topper's fan base, network of live venues, agents and talent buyers.
We have contacted the long list of Pete's family members, Topper's inner circle, fans, dear friends, brothers and sisters and have updated everyone.
The outpouring of prayers, love and concern for Pete has been incredible and is getting us though all of this.
There must be more in store in the future for this supremely gifted singer and songwriter who has been a franchise member of Topper, one of America’s premier touring bands, for 31 years this Summer!
Pete is a true survivor but has no insurance to pay the huge hospital bills incurred and most of all, the phenomenal cost of a prosthetic leg. His leg was amputated two inches above the knee joint and will require a sophisticated prosthetic that would allow him to walk and resume physical work activities.
His family, friends, fans and band members appreciate the outpouring of prayers, love, friendship and concern. Pete was released from the hospital on Friday, August 4, unbelievably, just two weeks after the accident.
Pete spent a few days with family members in his home town, Decatur, AL and returned to the stage with Topper on Friday, August 11.
Since then he's been inspiring audiences all over the country with his amazing voice, spirit and positive attitude and moving forward during a very intense period of Topper's performing schedule. We are appealing to everyone for donations to get Pete “up and running” again!
