Casa Nueva Esperanza* is a transitional house for newly-arrived immigrant families. Due to extreme gang violence and poverty in Central America, there has recently been a significant influx of immigrants to the Bay Area. Safe, affordable housing provides these families, many of whom have experienced intense trauma, with much-needed stability as they get oriented to the Bay Area and begin to put other pieces of their lives together. Casa Nueva Esperanza currently houses two families. The children of the families living at Casa Nueva Esperanza are enrolled in school, and the parents have begun to find ways to support themselves, address their legal immigration cases, focus on the needs of their children, and make a plan for the next several months in this country.
Your tax-deductible donation will help sustain Casa Nueva Esperanza by supporting the monthly utility costs and other basic household expenses. Any funds raised beyond the goal will be used for emergency housing needs for recently-arrived immigrants.
*Casa Nueva Esperanza is a collaborative project of several faith communities under the auspices of the Interfaith Movement for Human Integrity, a 501c(3) dedicated to the belief that every human person is sacred across all borders. Interfaith Movement for Human Integrity organizes diverse, multi-faith congregations to work and act together on immigrant and racial justice issues.
