The Story

As we all know, Hurricane Harvey struck the coast of Texas earlier this week leaving many without food and water.  Several Texas based food trucks and trailers have graciously volunteered to donate their time and vehicles to provide food for those desperately in need in the small coastal towns that are still in the process of being evacuated.

Monies raised will go directly to the cost of food and drinks that will be served to evacuees and first responders from the trucks and trailers that have volunteered their time.  These individuals need our help and this is a great, tangible way to contribute from all parts of the country.  The trucks will deploy to several different smaller cities along the coast that may not be receiving the national attention but are still in need of help. Thank you so much for your support, a donation as small as $5 will feed someone and make a difference!

Joel from Insure My Food will match up to $1,000 in donations
Melinda from 5000 Burnet food trailer park in Austin will ALSO match up to $1,000 in donations

Elizabeth from Cincinnati Food Truck Association ALSO matched the first $1,000 in donations!

Also, huge thank you to Rob from U.S. Food Truck Fest for his support on this initiative!

This weekend,  the shelter at 7000 Metropolis was treated to delicious breakfast tacos from Tacoenmaye in Austin. Below is Ange's write up from the service - a giant THANKS once again, none of these opportunities would have been possible without your generosity!

We were honored to have been given the opportunity to provide breakfast tacos to all the folks at the shelter. Taconmaye is ran by my husband, myself, my brother in law and our kids, everyone was in high spirits in the morning to make the tacos and anxious to deliver. As we approached the shelter, reality set in at just seeing the “refugee/shelter” signs. Upon arriving we were escorted to the back of the building. The Redcross volunteers mentioned that there were strict entry protocols, it was amazing how the volunteers in a matter of days turned the warehouse into a fully functional temporary home for so many. The temporary residence of the shelter greeted us openly, many were senior or disabled individuals but all who approached were in high spirits and smiling. As we delivered the tacos to the Redcross volunteers we were surrounded by individuals who wanted to shake our hands, express their gratitude and just say thank you. It was an honor to provide them with our breakfast tacos, the coordinators mentioned they were gone in a matter of minutes.

Efforts to feed those in need this past weekend found our efforts focused in Austin at the mega shelter set up to house displaced families that have yet to be able to return to their homes.  Heather and her team served up some delicious looking sandwiches (more pics on the google drive)  featuring Lil' Mamas homemade breads.

As the weeks press on, your donations become all the more valuable! With Irma making landfall in Florida, Harvey and the devastation will fall out of the national spotlight, but the need for cleanup and food will continue.. Thank you once again for your generosity and allowing people to show love and support in a tangible way, have a great week!
