A Personal Plea From Mark Kistler
The world is watching in awe as my fellow Houstonians galvanize together to help each other rebuild and recover.
So many of my close friends and students families have suffered TOTAL losses of all their worldly processions. EVERYONE of them, and I emphasize EVERYONE of them are joining with neighbors and local shelters and relief crews, helping helping helping.
My eyes are flooded, my heart swells with pride to call these fine people my tribe.
For my friends outside of Horrible Harvey's Path, would you please consider donating $20 or more to my relief fund below? I know many of you have already nobly donated to National Relief efforts. What I'm doing here is a micro-local relief effort getting $100-$500 quick e-transfer care packages sent to our tribe of artists, art-students families, neighbors and FB family who desperately need QUICK relief for groceries, hotel rooms, boxes to pack belongings, and lots of FANS to dry their homes. MY PLEDGE: within a few hours of your donation, I intend to have it transferred to an extremely GRATEFUL family.
I'be drained my personal PayPal account, but I want to give MORE. I need your help. I hate to beg, but here I go...Pleeeeeeeeeeeeease will you donate $20 or more to my relief fund here?
Heres my original post last Tuesday:
As I sit here in Chicago, unable to get home until IAH opens, I've been in tears for days feeling so lucky and so so guilty for not being home to help! I was drawing cartoons all Saturday and Sunday at Chicago Comic Con, while thousands of my fellow Houstonians where being rescued in boats and helicopters. The enormity of this disaster really didn't sink in until after the Comic Con on Sunday. My flight home was cancelled due to airport closure. Sunday nights news was terrifying. It's now Tuesday, I'm staying with very generous friends in Chicago, hoping to get home Thursday, feeling so overwhelmingly helpless to help. This morning I saw my favorite furnishwe store "Gallery Furniture" Matress Mac opened his huge stores to evacuees for shelter and food, made me cry like a baby! (Mr Mac, I have your furniture in every room in my house and I PLEDGE you lifetime furniture purchasing loyalty sir! ) Then I watched JJ Watts moving video and his effort to raise some money has exploded to over 1.5 million in relief so far!
Through blurry tearful eyes I'm determined to help raise money for my fellow Houstonians, many who do NOT have flood insurance! I've decided to reach out to YOU my tribe, my friends, my PEEPS! Please help me help them. PLEASE donate to Red Cross first, or another National Relief Organization that you trust FIRST! Then, since you already have your credit card out😳, pitch in here. I'll keep you posted via FB how much YOU and I raise together and how fast I can get it distributed. So many friends are in shelters or friends homes with just clothes on their backs, so many friends who are still home are land locked and running out of food and generator fuel. Thanks for reading this, thanks for joining me. Feel free to contact me via FB, my web www.markkistler.com, or my email [email protected]
