The Story

"We Need a Miracle Today!" That's what Stacy heard when she learned of this little beagle (named Elton) who was stuck in a high kill shelter, and his time was up. He had a rescue that backed out on him. So there he sat in the shelter, heartworm positive and his time was up. Stacy sat there with her head folded in her hands, knowing that her rescue has already spent over $60,000 in medical expenses this year and they couldn't really afford another "medical case". But Stacy couldn't let Elton die… she said: “Not today!” She committed to save this sweet pup not quite 10 minutes before the transport left. If Elton hadn't made it on that transport, he would have been euthanized. Stacy said: “I don’t know what it was about him, but I felt that he deserved a chance.” With no foster available, and nowhere for him to go when he arrived at 3:30pm that day, she committed to him. He would come to her house, and she would figure things out, as she has many times in the past.

And with this, Project Hope was born. We needed a way to be able to save more animals and have somewhere for them to go until a foster home could be arranged.

Project Hope is a facility where shelter dogs who are out of time, can go and be safe. Foster based rescues can only save animals that they have committed fosters, so currently, we are limited to how many animals we can save.

At Project Hope, we take shelter animals out of unsafe places… Project Hope is a place where these dogs can go while we are able to arrange foster or find forever homes for them.

At Project Hope, they will stay there during their initial quarantine or as we like to call it “assessment period” is over. During this 10 day period, these dogs will get a much needed bath, get necessary vetting, be tested with kids, cats, other dogs and even get some training! What’s more, we will be able to provide honest answers as to these animals’ personalities when their fosters or adopters ask questions because we will be able to take the time to get to know them first… close and personal.

Project Hope will be equipped with 50 indoor kennels, as well as outdoor kennel space, an outdoor area for the dogs to enjoy, a bathing area, and a training and assessment room.

With Project Hope, we will be able to save 150 dogs a month at minimum!

So this is what we are asking: We need YOUR help to have a Miracle Happen Today! Please consider a donation to raise funds for our facility and the care of these animals. All the money raised will go towards the care of the animals and getting them to safety. Help us minimize the needless deaths that happen on a daily basis in shelters. Every Dollar counts for this project!

It doesn't take much:

$3.50 per week or $14 per month or $168 per year feeds one shelter animal.

$100 pays to transport an animal

$50 - $75 pays for a spay or neuter

$750 pays for a parvo treatment (mild case)

$1,200 pays for a heartworm treatment.

Heartworm, Parvovirus, and Distemper treatments are where most of our medical costs have been spent on this year alone! Elton is in need of a heartworm treatment and needs YOUR help!

Please consider donating to Project Hope TODAY!

To all of those who ask "why" when I tell them I rescue dogs and why I always have a house full of foster dogs!

The neglect changes you.
The abuse hardens you.
The suffering breaks you.
The ignorance angers you.
The indifference disturbs you.
The injustice destroys you.

On a daily basis…your faith will be tested.
Your heart will be wounded....
Your soul will be altered.

On a weekly basis…you’ll question yourself.
You’ll question your strength.
You’ll question the world.

On a monthly basis…you’ll fall down.
You’ll get up.
You’ll go on…

On a yearly basis…you’ll look back…
You’ll see faces…
You couldn’t save them.
You’ll learn to mourn.
To grieve.
To sob.
You’ll learn to trust a little less.
To do a little more.
To fight a little harder.
You’ll learn to try.
To hope.
To pray.
You’ll learn to fail.
To succeed.
To accept.
You’ll learn when to hold on.
When to give up.
When to let go.
You’ll learn who you are.
What you stand for.
Why that matters.

Then… at times… you’ll forget why you matter.
You’ll question what you’re doing.
You’ll wonder if it’s worth it.

But…here’s the good news… When you forget…
When you question…
When you wonder…
All you have to do…
Is take a look around…
And you’ll see them.

You’ll see their faces.
You’ll see their smiles.
You’ll feel their love.

In their eyes, you’ll see their journeys…
You’ll remember their beginnings…
You’ll know how far they’ve come…
You’ll remember when they didn’t know you…
When they didn’t trust you…
When they’d given up.

You’ll remember how you healed them…
How you loved them…
How they loved you, too.
And as you look back…
You’ll want to move forward…
For them… and because of them.

In your darkest hours, you’ll look around…
To find the differences made…the hope given…
and the lives saved…
Because you existed.
In those moments, when you look into their eyes…
Every doubt will be erased.
Every question will be answered.
Every worry will subside.
Because in that instant…in each of your hearts…
You both share the very same thought: “Every bit of pain was worth it…for this moment here with you.”
And honestly…no matter what else happens…
Those moments hold all the strength you need…
To keep going.

Rescue is pain.
Rescue is joy.
Rescue is worth it…because they are worth it.
And that’s the honest truth.

Elton is doing well. We still have a long way to go to reach our goal, but we know we CAN do it! With your help and support its going to happen! We would love to be able to save more dogs from the shelters before the Holidays get here! We cant do it alone! Your support is needed. Did you know many shelters get "cleared out" before the holidays so the volunteers can spend time with their families? Help us avoid NEEDLESS deaths in the shelters before the holidays!
