The Story

The evening of Nov. 7th, 2014, Cristin and Nick Potter welcomed their newest son into the world 3 months before he was due to arrive via emergency cesarean.  His birth was also a saying good-bye as his twin sister had left this life some weeks prior and was born sleeping.  Fortunately, Baby Cullen is doing well, and the Potter family (Cristin included) are able to be with him as he continues to gain strength in the NICU at UK Hospital in Lexington, Kentucky.  Being born at 28 weeks is not easy and the Potter family are anticipating weeks of remaining in Lexington by the side of Baby Cullen.  This will mean missed work for Nick, hotel stays, food out, travel costs, and ongoing childcare needs for their three other children.  The hospital in Lexington is three hours away from their home in southeastern Kentucky.

Cristin has been an advocate for so many mothers here in the mountains.  She is simply an amazing woman!  She has loved on us as a friend, doula, childbirth educator, and postpartum doula for many years.  Now, it is time for us to give some of this love back through supporting the Potters financially during this uncertain time.  All money donated to this fundraiser will go directly to the Potter family through Paypal.  Thank you and God bless.

Yet you, Lord, are our Father.
We are the clay, you are the potter;
we are all the work of your hand.
Isaiah 64:8

As it is true with all babies born too soon, Baby Cullen has good days and bad days.  Yet, every day he takes a breath is a blessing for the Potter Family as they hold the High Watch for his full recovery and health.  He is a very strong little boy.  Cristin and Nick also miss their older children very much as they aren't able to keep them all in Lexington.  The ups and downs of this time are a part of life.  The Potter's appreciate all the support more than we will ever be able to understand.  Please keep them in your thoughts and prayers as there is still a long road ahead.  Thank you all for donating, and please continue to share and donate to this fundraiser.

"Rise during the night and cry out. Pour out your hearts like water to The Lord. Lift up your hands to him in prayer, pleading for your children." Lamentations 2:19

*Please report any difficulties you have with donating to this fundraiser.  There have been some minor glitches and we would like to know if they continue so they can be fixed.  This does not affect the person donating, it seems some have had issue with their donation being processed to PayPal.  Thank you!
