September 10th, ´15
Since our last update, we have been processing one great grief after another, yet continuing to imagine and realize safe spaces for our communities to grow. We were in the Ocean of the Gulf Coast when we received the message of the massacre of nine Black Christians from Mother Emanuel Church in Charleston, SC. on June 17th. With tears raging and adding to the outrage over the injustices and acts of violence devaluing Black and feminine lives, we persisted in our work.
Wherever we have been, we have had to address traumas and bring them into wholeness. And, we have been blessed to have been held by the Trees, Mountains, and Waterways during all of this. We recognize the urgency of creating land-based spaces to hold collective and personal grief and care rituals, the spaces to gather ourselves whole in a society where we are being torn apart.
We have been giving a lot of energy to fund-raising for the Land payments and now only have $5,500 more to gather. We know that we can easily generate all that we need and now wish to express our gratitude. We thank you for participating in this process of heart-full abundance.
