As a follow-up to the Sept 9th update, YouCaring provided the feedback below regarding why some users may experience issues when attempting to contribute. As a reminder, for large contributions (>$1,000), see the Sept 11th update for alternative options to ease any contribution pains that you might be experiencing.
"This can happen when donors have reached a limit on the number of purchases allowed with PayPal's checkout option, or if the card in use is tied to an existing PayPal account. Both of these situations would require a donor to sign into a PayPal account to issue a payment.
PayPal tracks guest purchases on all websites, not just through YouCaring, and declines payments once their limit is reached. If a donor is being declined for this reason, their only option will be to either create a PayPal account or login with an existing account. In the same way, users who have added a credit card to an existing PayPal account as a payment method will be required to sign into their PayPal account when using the credit card to donate.
Unfortunately, PayPal does not disclose the exact reasons why credit cards are not accepted by guest checkout."
