We are purchasing a Building for the new Soup Cafe at a cost of $500,000. December's goal is to raise $50,000 towards the purchase.
For over six years the Heaven's Helpers Soup Café fed the hungry in our community, over 200 people a day at times, but the Café has been searching for a new location since their lease was not renewed in June 2015; the search is over, a perfect location identified and the “Soup’s On 2017” fundraising campaign has started.
The dining area of the new location will seat almost three times the people, along with private showers and a laundry location. A hot meal, a warm shower and the convenience to wash your clothes are things taken for granted by many people that not everyone has.
Also in the master plan is a computer station for people to search for work, print off resumes or check email. In addition, there will be a room for free clothing for those who are in need.
The meals will continue to be free but the patrons will pay for extra services like showers, laundry, and computers using " Soup Café Bucks" earned by volunteering at the location by washing dishes, chopping vegetables, cleaning, etc.
Heaven’s Helpers Soup Café is truly a labor of love, a location to offer people a hand up, not a hand out. It's all about helping people get from where they are now to where they want to be.Like the previous location, Mark Meier and his all-volunteer staff will continue to provide prayer and bible studies for the patrons; feeding the body, soul and spirit of all those in need.Thank you for your support
