My name is Heather, and thank you for taking the time to read my fundraiser!
Last year, I contracted meningitis and complications from it. After a long road to recovery, including the loss of my job and a lot of work with my doctors and physical therapists, I'm finally myself again. That was what really inspired me to make a career change. I am lucky enough that I have gotten into the University of New Brunswick in Fredericton, NB, Canada in the faculty of kinesiology on my way to becoming a professional physical therapist, but I need help raising $4000 for the costs of moving up to Canada.
With the changes happening in the political sphere in the US and the uncertainty about the changes to NAFTA, it has now become very difficult and expensive to move things across the border to a smaller province. I already have tuition and living expenses covered through grants, loans, and savings, and I plan to work while I'm in school: you can work part-time as an international student in Canada. I plan to live frugally, I just need some help getting started thanks to the unexpected expense of moving under the new stricter scrutiny at the border. I have all my own furniture! I just need to get it there!
Any money not used to move is going to go towards books, an on-campus meal plan, and cat food for my fluffy life companion, my cat, Portia. I am doing this entirely on my own, so any help you can give, I am grateful to receive. Thank you for your time!
