Max was spotted by concerned citizens in Tecumseh, Oklahoma. A collaborative effort was made to get him safe before he ended up in the high kill pound. When we got the notification other local rescues had been looking for placement for days, but he was still wandering. Although we already have many rescues we are caring for, we went to get him safe.
When we got there he literally collapsed into my arms. He barely had the strength, but he wagged his tail and gave me a weak kiss as we sped to the vet clinic. He was almost starved to death and yet his body was swollen from infection. His list of ailments is a long one. Rocky Mountain Tick Fever, walking dandruff, anemia, multiple parasites... signs of a very hard life and abuse. Just the initial tests cost over $300. He was hospitalized for 15 days and he is finally recovering and putting on healthy weight. He is even starting to run and play. The vet bill swelled to well above the $1000 mark even with the rescue discount.
We have arranged for a long-term foster and possible adoption... There will be lots of updates and pictures for his happily ever after.
Won't you open your heart today and donate a few dollars to help offset the costs of saving this amazing boy? He is 100% LOVE and especially loves children. Despite what he has been through, he now has a bright future ahead of him with just a little more help.
