Thanks to all who contributed to this project with time, effort and funds. Total funds required for this project were $2364.42. Between this website and outside donations, we raised $2225, leaving a small deficit of $139.42. Because I can't account for the outside donations on this site, I can only adjust the amount to fundraise to reflect the true outstanding balance on the project. Thanks again for supporting this project!
The workday on 12.17 was so successful we finished the project! Now that it is fully built, I know the exact costs for it. I have received some contributions outside of this website, so now my amount needed to fully fund is $1000! Please help me push this project over the finish line. Thank you for your consideration, and Merry Christmas!
My name is Hayden Hutchison, and I am a Boy Scout at Troop 1014 in Cypress, TX. I am currently at the rank of Life Scout and working on my Eagle Service Project to achieve the rank of Eagle Scout. My Eagle Service Project is a Ga Ga ball pit for my school, Covenant Academy, in Cypress, TX. The Eagle Project is to be done for the benefit of the community, and I wanted my project to be personal, which is why I approached my school for any potential needs.
GaGa ball is an Israeli sport that is quickly growing in popularity in America. The word "Ga" means "hit" or "touch" in Hebrew. So the phrase "Ga Ga" means "Hit Hit" in Hebrew. It is similar to dodgeball inside of a fence, where players cannot be hit below the waist with the ball, or they're out. Players smack the ball to try to hit each others' legs until only one person is left.
The pit itself will have six three-foot walls in a hexagon shape, all mounted on a 20'x20 wooden deck. This deck will be set on concrete footings.
All funds donated will go to materials, supplies, and activities associated with my Eagle Service Project.
