The Story

Welcome, we are Team 484, otherwise known as "Roboforce," Haverford High School's robotics team. We compete in US FIRST Robotics competitions. The team builds its robot during a six-week build period (beginning January 7, 2017) when mentors and students work together to create a robot capable of playing the respective year's game. Follow this link to find out about this year's game:

The bottom line is we need money to be competitive. Competing in First Robotics is expensive. As with most things in the Mid-Atlantic region, the teams that compete are some of the best in the nation. We have recently lost two of our big name sponsors due to circumstances beyond our control and have not been able to replace the money they contributed with new sponsors. Our students pound the pavement selling candy and hold car washes to raise money, along with many other ways.

Since our inception in 2000, we were a rookie all-star team and a finalist at the Philadelphia Regional competition in 2001. Other team awards include winning the Wissahickon competition 4 times in a row, the Motorola Quality Award at the Chesapeake regional in 2006, the Xerox Creativity Award at the Chesapeake regional in 2008, the Delphi "Driving Tomorrow's Technology” Award at the Philadelphia Regional in 2009, the Industrial Design Award sponsored by General Motors at Lenape Regional in 2012, finalists at the Mid-Atlantic Championships in 2014, finalists at Westtown District Event in 2016 where we lost to a 3rd order tie breaker and our lead mentor was a Woodie Flowers Award Nominee in 2016.

We are—above everything—a great program that inspires students to do more with their lives and educations, such as going into the engineering or scientific fields. FIRST and Team 484 teach important technical knowledge, teamwork, and dedication to their members. Team involvement also strengthens students' life skills, particularly their organization and their capacity for hard work. Participation on a FIRST team also makes our students prime candidates for many colleges and universities and allows them to receive scholarships that are otherwise inaccessible. Being a member of our team is a privilege that is treasured by our students and enjoyed by our mentors.

Thank you!
The students and mentors of Roboforce

We would like to acknowledge and thank our current sponsors for their continued and generous support:
Comcast, Piazza Honda and The School District of Haverford Township

Build season ends tonight at midnight.  Competitions start in 2 1/2 weeks! The kids did a great job this year.  We are all very excited to see how we compare to the rest of the field of competitors.
