9/20/17 It's so sad when the only pics I have to introduce this baby to the rescue look like this. So everyone meet Hank. Hank is an owner surrender by his mommy. After a bath by her fiance, Hank slipped and fell, and she found him holding up his leg. She thought maybe this was patella issues then over the weekend the bruising and swelling settled in. She began calling vets for pricing to get him seen but financially she just couldn't afford the cost so she reached out to rescue. We met at the ER since it was after hours for vets so we could see what we might be dealing with. Tears flowing, she said goodbye to her baby of 8yrs.
Hank was taken to the back as I filled out his paperwork. The vet came in and asked about the auto accident Hank was in and suddenly what I had seen in the pictures were being realized. Hanks femur was shattered and broken, her words, "this is extreme blunt force trauma... no slip in the tub, and he may need amputation."
I collected myself, collected this poor broken baby and both he and I cried the whole hour drive home avid through the night. Rescue has an evil side. I've seen the mill babies, the abandoned ones, the sick ones, the list goes on and on, but to see evil hurts to the soul.
Look at these eyes, who does this!!!???!! Why???
Thursday, we see an ortho specialist to see if we can save sweet Hank's leg. He's spending the night at Dr Sam's so his pain can be managed along with antobiotics to fight bone infection and along with medication for his swelling and bruising. Needless to say, we are only two days in and Hanks care and his medical is going to be sooo overwhelming. Please, please give to this baby’s medical. He will live, God willing, but he has a long road to go and we need you and your support and love and your shares. God bless you and thank you!
