The Story

9/20/17 It's so sad when the only pics I have to introduce this baby to the rescue look like this.  So everyone meet Hank.  Hank is an owner surrender by his mommy.  After a bath by her fiance, Hank slipped and fell, and she found him holding up his leg. She thought maybe this was patella issues then over the weekend the bruising and swelling settled in. She began calling vets for pricing to get him seen but financially she just couldn't afford the cost so she reached out to rescue. We met at the ER since it was after hours for vets so we could see what we might be dealing with.   Tears flowing, she said goodbye to her baby of 8yrs.

Hank was taken to the back as I filled out his paperwork. The vet came in and asked about the auto accident Hank was in and suddenly what I had seen in the pictures were being realized.  Hanks femur was shattered and broken, her words,  "this is extreme blunt force trauma... no slip in the tub, and he may need amputation."

I collected myself, collected this poor broken baby and both he and I cried the whole hour drive home avid through the night.  Rescue has an evil side. I've seen the mill babies,  the abandoned ones,  the sick ones,  the list goes on and on,  but to see evil hurts to the soul.

Look at these eyes, who does this!!!???!! Why???

Thursday,  we see an ortho specialist to see if we can save sweet Hank's leg. He's spending the night at Dr Sam's so his pain can be managed along with antobiotics to fight bone infection and along with medication for his swelling and bruising. Needless to say,  we are only two days in and Hanks care and his medical is going to be sooo overwhelming.  Please, please give to this baby’s medical.  He will live, God willing, but he has a long road to go and we need you and your support and love and your shares.  God bless you and thank you!

5/14/18 Hank is doing fairly well after his second surgery to help with the luxating patella he developed after his first surgical repair.  He will get his stitches out this week. We were originally on 6 different meds and have gone down to 4.  His leg is still pretty painful but he's getting better each day.  In 8 weeks we will go back to Texas A&M Vet Hospital for what I hope will be his last surgery. This will entail removing the oversized plate and hopefully we will have bone growth at this time! Unfortunately from an emotional perspective Hank is still having a very hard time with separation anxiety. It took me months to start to fix that... I'm back at the beginning and have him back on Prozac as well. This sweet baby is just so loving.  He deserves his happy furever home and I will be certain he gets that,  especially with people that love him like you . Please keep us in your thoughts and prayers.

3/30/18: From a body full of bruises and broken bones to now.  We still have one more hurdle with this adorable little guy and it will require breaking his leg for the final fix. This is almost unbearable for me to fathom after all this sweet boy had been through. Hanks next surgery will be the costliest one after all of his medical and surgeries to date.  The ortho center at Texas A&M refer to Hank as a unique case.  They will need to remove the plate and screws, rebreak his leg where the deformity is,  place a smaller appliance on,  repair his locked patella and torn ACL.  UYR is looking at a cost of up to $5000. I'm asking, maybe pleading at this point, as I personally have 4 medical rescues in my care,  but this baby boy is worth every penny.
Hank still holds emotional scars with his fear of separation, but after all this little man had endured,  he is just the absolute most loving baby ever.  He will eventually be someone's pride and joy that will be rewarded back with so much love.  Please, please donate,  share  and pray for this little boy.  As always,  thank you and bless you all!

Update 1/27/18 Sweet 8yr old, 8lb Hank as you may recall was horribly abused in his first home. His femur was shattered, and his bladder was injured. We performed the surgery to save his leg  and now we are going back into surgery due to his continued lameness and continued bladder issues. His surgery will require removing his plates and screws, repairing his ACL and his patella and assessing the muscle. The surgeon is also going to do a contrast study of his bladder while he is under and hopefully repair the bladder or possibly have to create a new opening so that this little boy can urinate without the struggles he is having. Hank's journey has been such a long one. This all began back in September. He was severely abused at the hands of an evil man and this poor angel has endured so much emotional trauma as well. Hank’s surgery will be very expensive, but this sweet baby deserves his life without pain. I am looking to you all to please help us help Hank. He is just the sweetest little guy that only knew the love of his mother before that horrible day. We at UYR will not fail this baby and he is so deserving of a life without pain. Please donate, please share, please say a prayer for this sweet precious boy! As always, thank you and bless you!
