On January 7, 2017, I will become a Bat Mitzvah. As part of this special event, I have chosen to perform a Mitzvah Project and Act of Tzedakah (Social Action). I want to add that special ingredient of Tikkun Olam, or repairing the world, to my Bat Mitzvah so that many more people can benefit from my happiness and joy. The project which will have two components. Over the years, I have become passionate about nature and the environment and my chosen project addresses these major issues in our world.
The first is a hands on project, during which my friends and family participated in the New York State Beach Clean Up Day on September 17th. I wanted to do the beach cleanup because I care about our earth and want to keep it, as well as the creatures on it, healthy and safe. During the 2015 NYS Beach Cleanup 7,723 volunteers in 26 counties removed 125,554 pounds of debris along 250.21 miles of shoreline. How cool is that? On the 17th, my friends, family and I participated in a cleanup at Zach's Bay, which is part of Jones Beach State Park. (see pictures from the beach clean-up below)
The second part of my project is where YOUcome in and can help make a differencetoo! I have chosen to fundraise for a most worthy cause and after researching difference charities connected to the environment, I have selected the Nature Conservancy to round out my Mitzvah Project.
From climate change and rainforests to anything in between, this eco-friendly, non-profit organization is committed to taking on tough issues facing conservation efforts today. To date, they have protected more than 119 million acres of land and 5,000 miles of rivers worldwide, making it one of the largest eco-oriented charities in the world.
Because they depend on public support (you and I!), and because of my passion for this topic, I am asking you to join me and make a donation today to this awesome cause! I made the first gift. Won't you make the next? It would mean so much to me personally! On behalf of Mother Nature and all of us human beings that care about the future of the planet, thank you, thank you, thank you!
For your information, the total amount of your donation, minus a reasonable paypal credit card processing fee, goes to the Nature Conservancy! We are collecting the funds and will send them all in together. Unfortunately, your gift will not be tax deductible, unless you send us a check diretly. If you would like to pay by check, please send a check made out to the Nature Conservancy to my dad. If you need our address, please contact him at [email protected] We will then enter your gift to count towards the goal and list your name if you like. There are no youcaring.com website fees. Youcaring does suggest a $1 contribution to them upon checkout as they devent on donations to operate but you can change to zero or any amount you like.
(FYI...I have switched charities since beginning, originally choosing Greenpeace. I wanted to spread the wealth and now have chosen The Nature Conservancy, both very worthwhile charities)
Peace & Love,
