Sweet Carissa was so happy to arrive in our rescue after years of neglect. We rescued her a year ago and started her on what we hoped would be a quick path to a wonderful new life. Her injuries did not allow her to straighten her rear leg. We repaired her neglected torn cruciate ligament. We hoped, even with severe arthritis, that this would start her on the road to a "golden life".
But, shortly after surgery, Carissa's tibia fractured eliminating the benefits of the ligament repair. This pup stayed as sweet as ever, even having to endure another surgery to repair the fractured tibia. After coping with these two orthopedic operations, she needed to have two masses removed. One actually surrounded her jugular vein and was a very complicated surgery.
This sweet girl will need another surgery to remove the excess hardware from her prior orthopedic surgeries, another attempt to repair the cruciate ligament and stem cell therapy to address the painful arthritis.
Please help us by contributing to the next phase of her healing proces. Carissa is only 7 years old and is so looking forward to a happy pain free life
