Sasha the malamute was rescued in 02/16 . By Karmas Legacy. She was taken over by BNJ Husky Rescue in April .We picked up Sasha on Saturday morning September 17th . Her condition was deplorable. She was turned over to us from BNJ Husky Rescue directly from a boarding facility in Rialto. Her spirit is fractured, her body is emaciated, she's anemic, with alopecia , seborrhea, yeast . She has bilateral ear infections and two skin masses. I cannot describe the horrible smell that was coming from her body . It was so bad I could hardly touch her. My heart was devastated the moment I saw her, and I wanted to break down in tears . She was so so broken and weak, and yet she half smiled. She still has a spark, her spirit has not been stomped out. The moment I saw her , I realized how amazing she IS. What a survivor ! A strong spirit. 7 months in a cage , a bag of bones on a cement floor ! She should hate humanity, yet she gently got in her crate and was taken straight to the vet. She's a gentle soul and that makes me even angrier that she was abused. There is no excuse for a rescue to EVER do this to any animal. The condition I received her in was inexcusable . Her vet bill at this time is already over 700.00, and this is the beginning. She immediately got pain medicines, IV antibiotics, oral antibiotics. complete groom , skin scrape, and biopsy of two masses. She has a grade three heart murmur . We are discussing further tests, radiographs. she will need many many baths and many trips back and forth to the vet . We wont know biopsy results for weeks. She is currently in Orange County at the vet. We will be moving her to the rescue on Saturday . I anticipate many more tests , exams, and bloodwork I am DETERMINED to finally give Sasha the long forgotten promise of a furever home with a family who loves her . Our plan - Cancer or no cancer , it is not an option to put Sasha to sleep. Just KNOW that we will never euthanize an animal no matter what the diagnosis if we can provide any quality of life and not cause undue suffering. I need your help here though. I need a foster. I need a FOREVER for Sasha. We can raise money, we can properly vet her, but we can't take her that one last mile. She needs someone to fall in love . She deserves that much, and you'd be surprised how much you'd grow right along with her . If there is ever a time in you life , that you did wrong and need to make it right........ this your opportunity to give back. If you want to earn brownie points in heaven , I guarantee , giving back to a living, breathing abused being like Sasha will score points and enrich your life like you could not even imagine. If you can step out of yourself for even a little while. Enough to recognize the suffering of another soul, and to help heal, you will find yourself healed , when you didn't think you were broken . I promise . Theres NOTHING like seeing a broken soul blossom. I know. I did it with Vince . It reminds you of the real meaning of life, of what is really important . We get so busy.... sometimes we forget ... and need to be reminded ....to look outside ourselves .. Anything you can help with regarding her vet care is great . We will be moving her on the weekend, and she will be transferring her care to Carter Animal Hospital in Cathedral City. Once we get her in there, if you'd like to make a direct donation to the vet, we will gladly provide their number. :) I will chronicle the story here soon . There is no one to blame for Sasha's condition than the rescue. Ultimately they are responsible for knowing where, how and what is going on with their dogs.
