On November 20, 2014, Max Moosie Westmoreland, was diagnosed with liver cancer just 3 weeks shy of his 2ND birthday. While chemo and surgery were successful for little Max, the family is still dealing with the damaging effects of the treatment. The chemo affected his high frequency tones which will cause him to hear "muffled" conversations. This will greatly impact his speech and learning capabilities so he has been fitted for hearing aids and is scheduled to pick those up on November 25th, 2016. He will need some speech therapy, follow up visits, tests and blood drawn for at least the next few years. Life had begun to get back to some normalcy until On November 19th, 2016 almost 2 years to the day of Maxs cancer diagnosis, his Daddy & Hero, Bobby, was tragically killed in an automobile accident. Bobby would have turned 30 years old just 3 days later - November 22nd. Our family is completely devastated by this tragedy. Bobby was loved by everyone he met. He was a smart, talented, giving and kind man that cared about everyone. An example of his character is revealed in a recent Facebook post the day he voted: Despite the feeling of helplessness stemming from this, we can still cast votes that affect us in awesome ways. Vote with your dollars to support domestic manufacturing, small business, and responsible and ethical companies / businesses. Vote with your time and volunteer, pray, meditate, help, mentor, and do good. Vote with your actions and forgive someone for something, have patience in a tough situation, or just smile at a stranger. We don't need a president to make America great. After being together over 10 years, having a beautiful baby boy and getting through Maxs cancer treatment, Heather & Bobby were married January 31, 2016. While Heather is employed, like many American households, they relied on 2 incomes to make ends meet. With Bobby gone, Heather will need some help until she figures out how to make it on her own. She doesnt want to move Max out of their home immediately and their primary vehicle, the family SUV, was totaled in the crash. She will also need to take some time off to deal with Bobbys sudden and tragic passing. Our families are pulling together to cover the cost of the funeral, organizing a fundraiser and pitching in everywhere we can but she will need more than we can give and that is why we are reaching out through this site. If you cannot help financially PLEASE at least pray for his wife, child, parents, siblings, family and friends. There will be a HUGE hole in our hearts this holiday season. Bobbys 30th birthday and Thanksgiving this week, Max's 4th birthday in December, Christmas, New Year, Heather & Bobby's 1st Wedding Anniversary in January, Heather's birthday in February plus Valentines Day, Mother's Day, Father's Day... EVERY DAY! This was a senseless tragedy, the depth of which is so great words cannot express. Life has been throwing some major rocks at this family and they need your support and your prayers. No matter what you give, how you give This holiday... EVERYDAY... please count your blessings, forgive petty differences, say what you need to say, hug your children, love your family... call them... spend time with them and PLEASE, PLEASE... DO NOT DRINK AND DRIVE! DO NOT TEXT AND DRIVE!
